The island has been welcoming visitors since the 1950s when it was known as Sea Pines Plantation but didn't become an official city until 1996.

The island has over 40 miles of pristine beaches and marshlands that are perfect for swimming, fishing or just relaxing on the sand with a good book.

You can also play tennis or golf at one of Hilton Head's many public courses or spend time at one of its many water parks if you prefer to stay dry!

Kiawah Island

One of the top South Carolina beaches is Kiawah Island. The island is located just off the coast of Charleston and has been rated as one of America's best beaches by TripAdvisor (it was voted number five, in fact).
