We just finished a new middle grade novel that we think you’re going to love. Enjoy your summer reading with this new book from Sky Pony Press.
Back on the Map is Perfect for Summer Reading
It’s imperative that children read during the summer. It helps keep them from “summer slide,” and losing their much-needed literacy skills. Even if they don’t care to read themselves, reading to them will help some. Mix it up. You read a page, then they read a page, then you, and so on. That’s what I do with my son Liam. We just finished Back on the Map by Lisa Ann Scott.
Meet Penny and Parker Porter
These twins are virtually orphans. Their mother has long since been dead, and they have no idea who their father is. Since they don’t really know who their family is, imaginative Penny likes to pretend that famous people make up their family tree. She envisions the historical figures in her favorite books to be part of her family.
The twins have been juggled between foster homes and are currently living In New Hope, North Carolina, with their ornery “grauntie.” Though she can be tough, the kids find it better than some of their previous homes. However, they’re looking for a real home, one that they won’t be uprooted from, or God forbid, split up. Penny thinks the way to stay where they’re at, is by getting their town on the map
Be entertained and learn a lesson
When your child reads Back on the Map, not only will they be entertaining and retaining their summer reading skills, but they’ll learn a lesson or two. By joining Penny Porter and her twin brother Peter, they will learn that you can make your own hope and create your own good luck by working hard and having a great attitude.
