Switch Animal Parts With Playfoam Pals

Switch Animal Parts With Playfoam Pals

When I was little, we had play-doh or silly putty to play with.  It was fun, but both could be messy and dry out.  Now there are Playfoam Pals from Educational Insights!  I had never experienced this stuff before, and I had a ton of fun.  It is squishy and really easy to mold.  My granddaughter had so much fun with it.  Not only do you play with the foam, but they come in these cute little pods.  After you open them, you get to search through it to find your animal surprise.  Tell me that’s not fun!  That’s not all though.  The little animals come apart so you can switch body parts with others.  So you can make a completely new animal altogether.  There are twelve pods to collect and there is a very rare gold animal.  Apparently, we are lucky, because we got the gold one!

In this day and age of technology, sometimes its hard to get the kids off of their phones, tablets, or game systems.  I have a great idea!  You could set up a family Playfoam night where everyone sits around the table and makes their own creations.  Maybe make the animals their own nests, beds, or whatever their little imaginations come up with.  Another great thing about the Playfoam Pals is that the little critters inside look like real wild animals.  You can use this as a teaching moment.

The Playfoam itself is sticky when you first take it out of the pod.  You have to squish it a little to get it the way you want it.  The only problem I had with it was the shape of the pods.  It’s just awkward to me.  It holds a small amount (of Playfoam) on each side of the pod, so when you open it, some of it kind of falls out.  Also, I tried making a snake but it breaks easily when you make certain shapes.  However, having said that, it will not dry out which is awesome!  No kidding, it never dries out!  You know that kids forget to close things at times, and now you don’t have to worry about it.  One other great feature about the Playfoam Pals is that it is non-toxic.  We all need that when we have kids in the house!
