PURPLE MONSTER CUPCAKE INSTRUCTIONS

Start by making your buttercream: in a stand mixer, start beating butter, sugar and milk on medium speed, gradually increasing it to high.

With an offset spatula, spread some buttercream on top of each cupcake. If you don’t have an offset spatula use a regular knife.

Next, cut each marshmallow into 3 pieces. Place 2 or 3 on top of each iced cupcake.

The marshmallows are there to create some “hills and valleys”.

Scoop the remaining buttercream into a piping bag and use Wilton tip #233 to frost each cupcake, being sure to cover it completely.

Place 2-4 eyes on each cupcake. In a little under an hour, you’ll have a furry, purple monster cupcake!

I love using store-bought chocolate cupcakes because it makes this recipe take less time.

This Purple Monster Cupcake recipe takes approximately 44 minutes. TOTAL.

This includes:

  • About 10 minutes to create the buttercream icing
  • Close to 12 minutes to spread the icing on all of the cupcakes
  • Around 5 minutes to cut your marshmallows into small pieces
  • 12 minutes to add the “hair” onto the purple monster cupcakes
  • 5 minutes to add silly eyes

If you were to bake your own cupcakes you would need to add at least 30 minutes plus cooling time to this recipe.
