Lessons to Learn in Maya The Bee 2

Maya The Bee 2: The Honey Games Teaches Realistic Lessons Like Listening

There are so many movies out there that try and teach children lessons.  Sometimes they are good, others not so good.  In order for my granddaughter to understand the lesson, it has to be realistic.  That is why I really like Maya The Bee 2: The Honey Games by Shout! Factory Kids.  It follows a sweet little bee named Maya, and she has a problem listening.  I’m hoping my granddaughter gets this lesson!

As I sat and watched this cute movie, I loved the story.  The animation is gorgeous too.  The colors and other insects are so vibrant.  This is something that will catch the eye of a child.  Especially little ones that can’t follow a movie quite yet.  This movie has everything!  It has best friends, a rival girl (bee), a mean Aunt and other bees that believe in Maya.  I never saw the first Maya movie, but I’m glad that I watched this one.

Maya is a little bee, but she certainly has a big heart.  Unfortunately, Maya has a problem with listening.  Doesn’t every little “bee”?  Maya just wants to compete in the “Honey Games” (funny huh?).  She is finally invited by the Empress, but Maya will learn that it isn’t exactly what she thought it was.  She learns a lot of life lessons during these games, but she comes out the same, honest little Maya.  Team Poppy (Maya’s team) and her hive are all counting on her to win.  That is a lot of pressure to put on a little bee.  Can she (and her team) win it in the end?  I’m not telling!

This sweet movie is directed by Noel Cleary (Tashi), Sergio Delfino (Chicken Run), and Alexs Stadermann (Maya The Bee Movie, Bambi II).  It features the voices of Coco Jack Gillies, Richard Roxburgh (Mission: Impossible II), Linda Ngo (Top of the Lake), and Justine Clarke (Home and Away).
