Kids Can Join Imam Adam on his Adventures

Excuse us Elf on the Shelf. Move over Mensch on the Bench. Imam Adam is here to teach kids acceptance and knowledge of the Muslim faith.

Kids Can Join Imam Adam on his Adventures

The US travel ban has sparked fear among many. Sadly, lack of education about something often times is the root of that fear. That’s where Imam Adam comes in. This cute plush doll is to teach children about the Muslim faith, in a fun, and engaging way.

Throughout his adventures in this easy to read book, he will teach children the Five Pillars of Islam in a way that children can understand and relate too. Imam Adam takes the reader on a pilgrimage in Mecca to perform Hajj.

Our Muslim Population is Growing

The Pew Research Center has estimated that in the next decade, our Muslim population will increase by seventy percent. That means that if your children aren’t yet in school with Muslim children, they will be in the future. So what a better time than the present to teach them about another culture.

Acceptance is key in our ever-changing world. People of different race, religion, orientation, and more are often times the target of fear based opposition. It’s our job as parents and educators to teach children acceptance of all. That none of these are a reason to fear someone.

Perfect for home, school, or library programs

Imam Adam is the perfect teaching tool for your home. I also think that class rooms, and even library reading programs can benefit from these teachings. Enhance your child’s knowledge, while you expand their hearts to something new. After all, we’re all different in our own ways, and we should never judge another before we truly know them.

Our Thoughts

My son was excited to open up the box. He couldn’t wait to get Imam Adam out. (He’s autistic and has always had a love for plush toys.) He took him out, and started reading the book. In our home, he’s sheltered from the news because it makes him very sad, however, we do speak to him about current events in a way that he can handle. So he knows all too well about how Muslims (and many others) seem to be shunned by so many. Even though he’s very accepting of everyone, he did enjoy learning something new.
