A Bit of Nostalgia for You, a Great Book for Them

Are you ready for a bit of nostalgia? Remember the “choose your own adventure books” from our youth? Well, I have a new one to tell you about, that middle grade readers are going to love!

A Bit of Nostalgia for You, a Great Book for Them

I remember when I first discovered “choose your own adventure books.” I was in the third grade, and one of my all time favorite elementary teachers introduced us to these “funtastic” books. It changed the way many of us in her classed looked at reading chapter books. Well, thanks to author and teacher Lisa M. Bolt Simons, now your kids can enjoy the same type of book.

Back to Pass: A Choose Your Path Football Book

Middle grade readers may have read sports related books before, but never one like this! In Back to Pass, the reader is the main character! You’ve been playing football for almost your entire life, then you find yourself without parents. You no longer attend school, and you don’t even have a place to live. When your uncle takes you in, will you be able to get back on track? When the local team’s quarterback can’t play due to an injury, will take his spot and save the season?

In Back to Pass, YOUR choices affect the outcome of this engaging novel. Better yet, you can reread it, and make different choices to see what happens then. That’s what we used to do with our “choose your own” books. It’s so much fun, and it’s interesting to see where the story leads based on how you decide.

Engage them and feed their need to read

I know how hard it is to get a child to read. My tween son really dislikes reading. He enjoys being read to, but getting him to read on his own is like pulling teeth. I grabbed a copy of Back to Pass, and started reading it to him. He has since taken over and been reading every day. I’m thrilled and impressed.
