Using a large bowl, beat the butter, sugar, and almond extract. Mix it all until all is combined and creamy consistency is achieved. Then, in a medium bowl, carefully whisk the flour and salt until both ingredients are combined.

Gradually incorporate and beat the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until dough forms.

For the last step of the dough, gradually mix the ¼ cup of Valentine’s Day sprinkles into the mixture. Make sure the sprinkles are thoroughly incorporated into the dough before cutting it out.

Once the dough is formed, proceed to cut out the mini heart outline. Lightly flour the cutting board and roll the dough into ¼ in a thick rectangle. Use the cookie cutter to cut out the heart-shaped cookies.

Place the cut-out heart cookies on the cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or silicone mats. Then, bake the cookies for about 8 to 10 minutes or until it turns slightly golden.

Allow it to cool before carefully placing it on the wire rack.

Sprinkle Bites FAQs

Can I still make them even without a cookie-cutter?

Yes. If by chance while baking there is no heart-shaped cookie cutter available, you can use a small knife to cut out precise heart-shaped cookies.

Is it okay if I add color to the cookie dough?

Yes. If you want something bright and colorful, you are free to add food coloring.

Make sure to incorporate it in the dough mixture process.

You might want to add more of the coloring as the insufficient color tends to make the cookies brown in color instead.

Can I give these cookies as a gift?

Yes. What greater gift to give other than those homemade treats?

You can place these cookies in inboxes and make them as personalized and thoughtful as possible.

Is it okay to skip the sprinkles on top?

Yes. You can skip the sprinkles especially if you are not a fan of it.

I would recommend adding food coloring to the frosting instead to make it colorful and fun without using the sprinkles.

Can I make the frosting chocolate flavored?

Yes. You can simply swap the white chocolate for milk chocolate. Make sure that it will harden before serving.
