The Ivy Hotel is a Black-owned oasis in the heart of Charm City.
Owners Eddie and Sylvia Brown are entrepreneurs and philanthropists in the Baltimore area and recently donated $5 million to their beloved alma mater, Howard University ( the largest gift from an alum ever).
Encased in the DNA of the Ivy Hotel and Magdalena is their commitment to; diversity in all areas and at all levels, delivering excellent performance, and the highest level of hospitality, cuisine, and service to guests.
Last fall The Ivy Hotel’s restaurant Magdalena, a Maryland Bistro announced the promotion of Scott Bacon to The Ivy Hotel & Magdalena’s new Head Chef— marking their first Black head chef leading the hotel’s culinary operations.
Bacon unites culture, tradition and sophistication to create dishes full of character.
The hotel has a history of amplifying Black brands through its luxurious experience, offering black-owned whiskey maker Uncle Nearest on the Mansion Bar, Magdalena, a Maryland Bistro, and as a hot toddy foot ritual experience inside the spa.
The Ivy has also tapped local black-owned brand Equitea Co. to offer tea blends on the menu for their afternoon tea service.
