LAYERED ROOT BEER FLOAT COCKTAIL TIPS AND QUESTIONS

If you’ve never made a layered alcoholic drink, don’t worry! Below are some common questions and helpful tips. Hopefully, this will answer any questions you may have. If not, feel free to ask in the comments and I’ll answer the best I can.

HOW LONG DOES IT REALLY TAKE TO MAKE A LAYERED ROOT BEER FLOAT COCKTAIL?

This Layered Root Beer Float Cocktail recipe takes approximately 11 minutes. TOTAL. This includes:

  • About 5 minutes of prep time
  • Close to 5 minutes to slowly fill the drink with each layer
  • Around 1 minute to top with whipped cream

DO I HAVE TO USE A DRINK LAYERING TOOL TO MAKE THIS LAYERED DRINK?

Yes, you have to use a drink layering tool to make this drink if you want to show the individual layers.

You can make this drink without this tool, it will taste amazing but the layers will all be mixed together.

HOW DO I USE A DRINK LAYERING TOOL?

Using a drink layering tool is extremely easy. It looks like a funnel and it slowly drips the liquid into the cup.

As you make the drink you add the first layer, then take your layering tool and slowly pour the next layer through the layering tool and you will see it is not mixing with the first layer.

Since the layering tool prevents splashing the layers effortlessly stay separate.

CAN I MAKE A LAYERED ROOT BEER FLOAT COCKTAIL AHEAD OF TIME?

No, I do not recommend making a layered alcoholic drink ahead of time.

The drink will not taste as fresh and there’s a chance the layered could get mixed.

CAN I USE BAILEY’S INSTEAD OF RUMCHATA?

Yes, you can use Bailey’s instead of RumChata. They are both cream liquors and can be used interchangeably.

Bailey’s will make this drink taste slightly different.

It can be used as a substitute if you don’t have any RumChata.

CAN I ADD ICE CREAM TO A ROOT BEER FLOAT?

Yes, you can add ice cream to a root beer float.

This alcoholic root beer float cocktail will taste even better with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream.

Be mindful that once you add the ice cream you might mess up the beautiful look of the layers of each ingredient.

CAN I USE A HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM VODKA INSTEAD OF SMIRNOFF’S WHIPPED CREAM VODKA?

Yes, I’m sure you can easily make a homemade version of Smirnoff’s Whipped Cream Vodka.

I never tested it but you can probably take whipped cream and gently mix it into some vodka and Torani vanilla syrup or sugar syrup.

WHAT ELSE CAN I ADD TO THIS ROOT BEER FLOAT COCKTAIL RECIPE?

This fun Layered Root Beer Float Cocktail recipe not only tastes great, but it’s also incredibly versatile.

Try adding a maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream. YUM!
