It’s always been my dream to have a few cars that each had a special spot in my collection for one reason or another. Whether it’s the thrill of the drive, the luxury of the ride, or the power under the hood, certain cars have an undeniable appeal for car enthusiasts. Every enthusiast’s ideal collection needs a good mix of the classics, performance-focused cars, and historic models. If I was putting together a collection of dream cars, here would be my top nine.
9. Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye

Dodge recently announced that it would no longer be producing the Hellcat V8 in 2023. While this American muscle car wouldn’t necessarily be on my collection list before, owning something that will eventually become a rarity is intriguing to me. The Redeye model specifically comes with a lot of aesthetics of a class muscle car. It turns heads everywhere it goes and it has left a legacy in the car world.
8. Tesla Model S Plaid

Tesla’s Model S Plaid is another piece of automotive history I’d love to own. This car is truly redefining performance in the automotive industry. Tesla as a whole has made huge strides in the electric car market, but the Model S Plaid is a stunning machine. It is equipped with three electric motors that put out more than 1,020 horsepower. The Model S Plaid has a 0 to 60 time under two seconds and it is changing the way people look at performance. For me, it’d be awesome to have one of these in a car collection because it truly is a piece of automotive history.
7. Mercedes-AMG GT R

I get excited just thinking about the Mercedes-AMG GT R. This car is a testament to Mercedes’ innovation and commitment to delivering raw power. The AMG GT R is equipped with a 4.0L V8 biturbo engine that puts out 577 horsepower. Just looking at it is nice. It’s a sleek-looking and powerful vehicle. Not everyone will agree, but it is certainly among my dream cars to have in a collection.
6. Aston Martin DB11

Aston Martin has a few great cars, but one that I’d want in my collection is the DB11. Mostly, I’d want this car because it’s the one James Bond drove (and I’m a big Bond fan). However, the performance the car offers is astounding as well. It has a twin-turbo V12 engine that pumps out 630 horsepower. The interior of the car leaves nothing to be desired either with refined leather and advanced technology. It’s a great collection piece for anyone who values sophistication as much as speed.
5. Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray

You can’t talk about American sports cars without mentioning the Corvette and the C8 Stingray has refined what was already a spectacular machine. The C8 is packed with cutting-edge technology, including a customizable digital display and launch control for ultimate acceleration. Compared to some of the other dream cars on this list, it’s also relatively affordable.
4. Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ combines wild styling with an otherworldly V12 roar that’s impossible to ignore. It has a 0 to 60 time that comes in under three seconds, which is amazing. The Lambo Aventador SVJ is also just a really cool car that commands attention everywhere it goes. From the scissor doors to the striking angles, it’s a beautiful machine. Plus, there have only been 900 of them made since it was introduced in 2018, making it rather exclusive.
3. Ferrari F8 Tributo

The F8 Tributo was the replacement for Ferrari’s 488 and it’s got an exotic allure to it. The Tributo produces 710 horsepower and the Italians made sure to add some flare to its design. On top of that, the interior is driver-focused. It has carbon-fiber accents that make it feel like you’re driving a racecar. Combine that with its lightweight build, and you’ll be taking the corners like a pro. Ultimately, owning an F8 Tributo is like having a bit of Italian artistry in your garage.
2. Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Now, I have to be specific about this. The only Ford Mustang Shelby I want is “Eleanor” from Gone in 60 Seconds. That car is just a legendary piece of machinery. It has a supercharged V8 under the hood and it’s just fantastic to look at. It is track-ready and truly stands as a testament to how amazing American muscle cars can be.
1. Porsche 911 Carrera

If you’ve read anything I’ve previously written, you knew the Porsche 911 Carrera would top this list. I’ve driven a lot of cars and this one will always be one of my favorites. It’s not the fastest on this list, but it is one of the most refined and beautiful cars here. Its rear-engine layout provides a distinctive driving experience and its handling is unmatched. In my opinion, no car collection is complete without at least one Porsche and the 911 Carrera would be my pick.
Building the Ultimate Dream Car Collection

Putting together your dream car collection will really depend on your preferences. These nine dream cars are something I’d be excited to have in my garage at any point in time and they would each level up your collection substantially. Is there anything that you would add to the list?
