Get Your Kid’s Diet “Supercharged” With A New Cookbook By Lee Holmes!

Getting kids to eat healthy can sometimes be a struggle, especially if they are picky eaters. But, perhaps it doesn’t have to be. Sometimes a bit of creativity in recipes and help from someone who knows about eating healthy can make all the difference. A great resource from Quarto Knows and written by a knowledgeable chef is a book called “Supercharged Food For Kids: Building Stronger, Healthier, Brighter Kids From The Ground Up,” by Lee Holmes.

Supercharged

Let me start off by saying that I love this book. This is definitely a book written by a mom who knows how to help other moms. Her cookbook is wonderful in the way that it is formatted, providing very useful and educational information for moms, kids, and families.

It’s A Book Of More Than Just Recipes

The book has two parts. Part One is “Feeding Healthy, Happy Kids,” which has a ton of helpful information, including the following list (which is just a sample):

  • “Your child’s nutrient needs,”
  • “Tips for removing sugar and additives,”
  • “Tips for busy families,”
  • “Sneaking everyday superfoods into kids’ meals,” and
  • “Energy and performance food” and other such info.

Part Two contains the recipes, including breakfasts, snacks, shakes and drinks, soups and salads, desserts, and much more. The recipes sound healthy, amazing and, most importantly, delicious. Some of my favorites are Blueberry and Coconut Muffins, the Supercharged Green Slushie, and Jolly Green Giant Soup. I especially love green soups because they taste wonderful, they’re perfect for this cooler autumn weather, and my family never realizes how many veggies I’ve snuck into their meal when we eat green soups.

In addition to the recipes, are “Health Tips” that provide nutritional information. She also has “Supercharged Tips,” which provide extra helpful information for mom regarding the recipe. The author also includes icons next to recipes to help with special dietary needs, such as wheat-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, vegetarian, and nut-free.

About The Author And Where To Get Your Copy Of The Book

The author, Lee Holmes, has an Advanced Certificate in Food and Nutrition. She is also a certified holistic health coach, a whole-foods chef, and a best-selling author. The author says she “wrote this book to cater for the growing number of children who suffer from food allergies and intolerances, or conditions such as asthma, ADHD, hyperactivity and obesity, or dental problems, digestive issues and learning disorders and difficulties, all of which can be aggravated by poor eating habits” (Holmes, 2018, p. 7).

“Supercharged Food for Kids” is a paperback book and is available for purchase here. It retails for $21.99 (price subject to change). So, check it out. This is one cookbook I’m definitely keeping on my bookshelf for future reference and use. It’s such a great resource for helping moms prepare healthier meals and teach their kids that healthy eating can be fun and yummy!!
