The Shake Weight was initially marketed as the best way to build your upper body strength. However, this product wound up gaining viral attention for all of the wrong reasons. The science behind the workout tool was questionable, at best. Plus, anyone using it looked a bit ridiculous. Overall, it was a flop.
2. The Flowbee
This “As Seen On TV” product promises to bring the barber shop to your home. The Flowbee is a vacuum-powered hair-cutting device. While it seemed like it could be a convenient alternative to hitting the salon, it actually left a lot of people with uneven and just plain bad haircuts. Not to mention, it was pretty noisy. The trip to the hairdresser would’ve been less of a hassle.
3. The Snuggie
A blanket with sleeves? The Snuggie seemed like a good idea in theory, but it was cringe-worthy fashion-wise. When all was said and done, people quickly realized the Snuggie was just a glorified bathrobe worn backward. It was popular, but it was seen as impractical.
4. The Tiddy Bear
Seatbelts can be uncomfortable. The solution product makers came up with was called the Tiddy Bear. Odd name, right? It is a small, bear-shaped cushion that will slide onto your seatbelt strap. Although it aimed to provide comfort, most consumers couldn’t get over the strange name. The safety behind it was questionable too.
5. The PedEgg
The PedEgg was a little more popular, but it still should’ve never seen the light of day. This product was essentially a cheese grater for your feet. It was unpleasant to use and, after you were done, you’d have to empty out the grated skin into a trash bin (gross). A nice pedicure and moisturizing creams are a better solution all around.
6. The Perfect Pancake Pan
Who doesn’t love a perfectly cooked pancake? This pan promised that you’d get a perfect, round pancake every time. Unfortunately, most people found that the pan didn’t cook evenly. You’d either get an undercooked pancake or a burnt mess. A regular frying pan and spatula were more effective in the long run.
7. The PooTrap
This one is pretty cringe-worthy. The PooTrap claims to be able to take care of cleaning up after your dog for you. How, you might ask? Well, you just attach the bag directly to their behind. While not having to scoop up your dog’s feces might sound great, it was impractical and strange. Most dogs were uncomfortable having it on and most owners were embarrassed to be seen with it.
8. The Rejuvenique Facial Toning Mask
The Rejuvenique Facial Toning Mask looked like something out of a horror movie. Overall, it was more frightening than rejuvenating. Many people who tried it out said that it was uncomfortable and there was no science to back it. More traditional skincare routines would better serve you.
9. The EZ Cracker
Cracking eggs can be a messy affair. This contraption claims to be able to crack an egg without any mess or broken shells. In the end, this “As Seen On TV” product wound up being an over-engineered solution to a really simple task. It often wound up breaking the yolk or leaving shells in eggs. You’re better off cracking the eggs by hand.
10. The Sauna Pants
Yep, this one is just as ridiculous as it sounds. The Sauna Pants made promises to help people shed pounds by sweating… in their pants. It turned out to be both uncomfortable and impractical. Most people thought it was too hot to wear for more than a few minutes and there was no science to back that sweating led to long-term results when it came to weight loss.
