Recycled Chip Can Uncle Sam Patriotic Craft

This patriotic Uncle Sam craft uses easy to find materials to create a decoration your family will love. All you need is:

  • Pringles recycled chip can 
  • some acrylic craft paint 
  • craft foam in various colors 
  • a few wiggle eyes
  • silver glitter cardstock 
  • Uncle Sam Chip Can Patterns 

PATRIOTIC RECYCLED CHIP CAN UNCLE SAM CRAFT INSTRUCTIONS

Begin by gathering all the craft supplies. 

Clean the inside and outside of the chip can with a damp paper towel and soap.

Allow it to dry.

Using a paintbrush, apply a base coat of white acrylic paint to the outside of the chip can. 

Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. 

Download, print, and cut out all Uncle Sam Chip Can Patterns.

Trace onto red, white, and blue craft foam according to the instructions on the pattern sheet with a pencil or marker.

Cut out all patterns with scissors.

Attach red craft foam stripes vertically to the top of the chip can with the glue gun and glue sticks.

  • 5 minutes to paint the face and attach the features

Yes, you can use colored construction paper instead of craft form to decorate this Uncle Sam craft. The craft will not look the same but it’ll still look great!

This Uncle Sam craft has so many different ways to be decorated, and you don’t even need any crafting materials!

You can use a wide variety of colors for the construction paper or just get creative with markers.

The construction paper will not be as durable as the craft foam.

  •  Acrylic Craft Paint – White, Flesh Tone of Choice
  • Craft Foam; Red, Blue White – Dollar Store
  • Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Store

  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors

  • Paper Punch – Star
  • Hole Punch – ¼” Circle

Instructions

    1. To begin, gather all supplies. Clean the inside and outside of the chip can with a damp paper towel. Apply a basecoat of white acrylic paint to the outside of the chip can. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
    2. Download, print and cut out all Uncle Sam Chip Can Patterns. Trace onto red, white, and blue craft foam according to instructions on pattern sheet with pencil or marker. Cut out all patterns with scissors.
    3. Attach red craft foam stripes vertically to the top of the chip can with the glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the blue craft foam hat band onto the chip can horizontally. Slide the red craft foam hat brim on the to chip can and secure with glue under the hat band.
    4. Trace face pattern onto chip can with a pencil. Paint Uncle Sam’s face with flesh tone color of your choice. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
    5. Punch out six stars and one nose from silver glitter cardstock. Assemble Uncle Sam’s facial features using the photos as a guide. Attach stars onto blue hat band with the glue gun and glue sticks.
