These cute Recycled Bottle Ghosts use easy-to-find materials to create a spooky Halloween craft your family will love.

Save your plastic bottles for this craft.

The other materials can be purchased at a craft store or online through places like Amazon.

All you need is:

Recycled Bottle Ghost Craft

Wash and thoroughly dry the plastic beverage bottles, and then remove all labels.

The bottles I used bottles are a 2-liter soda, 1-liter water bottle, and a 16 oz. seltzer bottle.

Carefully cut off the neck of the bottles with a craft knife. If you don’t have a craft knife, a pair of sharp scissors will work. Let the adults do this step.

Make sure that the bottle ghosts are all different sizes and heights. Don’t worry if some of the glue is left on the plastic bottle. Just turn it to the back.

Draw ghost faces onto the black felt with the white chalk pencil, and then cut out with scissors.

Spooky, scary, cute, and sassy are just a few of the fun features that you can create with the kiddos.

TIP: Cut inside the drawn lines so that you end up with a clean, finished project.

If you don’t have felt you can use black craft foam or construction paper.

Stuff the bottles with poly-fil by tearing off sections of the fiberfill and packing it inside.

Another great way to involve the kids!

Carefully attach the features to the ghosts with a low temp glue gun and glue sticks.

You could also use tacky liquid glue, glue dots, or even a strong glue stick.

HOW LONG DOES IT REALLY TAKE TO MAKE A RECYCLED BOTTLE GHOST CRAFT?

This Recycled Bottle Ghost craft takes approximately 35 minutes to make a few ghosts. TOTAL. This includes:

  • About 5 minutes to wash and dry the bottles
  • Close to 5 minutes to cut off the neck of the bottles
  • Around 15 minutes to cut out felt ghost faces
  • 5 minutes to stuff with poly-fil
  • 5 minutes to attach the ghost features.

CAN I USE COTTON BALLS INSTEAD OF USING POLY-FIL?

Yes, you can fill the ghosts with cotton balls instead of poly-fil.

You can use any white puffy material you have at home.

You could also use a paper towel, toilet paper, etc.

You can use anything that is white. You could also paint the bottles white instead of filling them with white material. 

CAN I USE ANY TYPE OF BOTTLE?

Yes, you can use any type or size of bottle as long as it is clear plastic.

Large soda bottles and small water bottles will work great for this craft.

Go digging through your recycle bin and find an assortment of bottles.

  • Poly-Fil from Fairfield
  • Kunin Felt 9” x 12” Craft Cuts – Black
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Craft Knife
  • White Chalk Pencil

Instructions
