So many people burn candles for different reasons. Some burn them for ambiance, while others for their scent. Often times, it’s for both reasons. However, if you’re homesick for a certain place, then you need to check out these candles.
Homesick Candles Fill Your House with Home
We all spread our wings and leave home eventually. Some of us stay in our home state, but others leave for jobs, college, enlistment, and more. When you’re not living in your home state, there are times that you begin to miss it. That’s where Homesick Candles come in.
They have a candle for every state in the United States. (California is split into a NoCal and SoCal candle for those that hail from either part of the state.) Each candle has a signature scent that is a blend of scents found in that state.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. In my early twenties I moved to Tampa Florida to pursue my tattoo artist career. Eventually I moved to Alabama to further it. After Hurricane Katrina we moved back to Pennsylvania. Even though I enjoy Pennsylvania, love Florida, and miss some things about Alabama (mainly the friends we made there and Foosackly’s chicken,) my heart lies in Virginia.
My grandparents fell in love with the little islands of Chincoteague and Assateague off the coast of Virginia. (Ever hear of Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry?) As soon as I visited them there, I too fell in love. I tell everyone that my heart belongs to the island. Our goal is to someday move there like my grandparents did. When I discovered the Virginia Homesick candle, I had to have it. I miss the island every day, and dream of the day I can finally call it home.
What I think
The day my candle came I immediately opened it and lit it. I was instantly transported to Virginia. The smell of fir trees, pine needles, and sandalwood, mixed with sweet honeysuckle and a fresh rain scent was like sitting on the island and watching the wild ponies.
