A Guide to Raising a Son from Boyhood to Adulthood

This content was sponsored by Old Spice, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Do you ever stare at your son and wonder where the time has gone? Once upon a time, you were changing diapers and now you’re talking to him about how he needs to put some deodorant on because he’s smelling up the place. Here is the ultimate guide to raising a son from boyhood to adulthood.

A Guide to Raising a Son from Boyhood to Adulthood

Be honest with your son

If I can tell you one thing about raising a son is that you need to be honest with them. Tell them the truth about things and don’t sugarcoat anything. As they grow older, you can be more honest with them about important issues. Of course, when they’re little, you’re going to guard their heart a little more.

Spend time with your son

As much as your son wants to spend time playing video games in his room, he needs that time with his mama. Did you know that 56% of teen boys say they’re uncomfortable talking to their moms about their body odor? Spending time with him will let him feel more comfortable about telling you this sort of stuff. Being stinky is embarrassing and hard to talk about.

Let them feel like “men”

I think one of the best parts of raising sons is when they want to become “men.” There is always a certain list of things you do to become a man. Boys come up with these standards on their own. One of those standards is smelling good. In a survey in the USA – moms believed the biggest sign her son was becoming a man was when he showered without being told. Boys seem to think they’re becoming a man when they obtain a driver’s license or shaves for the first time.

Let them smell good

One thing that makes my son happy is smelling good. I have hooked him up with The Old Spice Wild Collection. My son can smell good and feel good about himself. When boys reach a certain age, they just want to feel confident and I feel as though The Old Spice Wild Collection does just that. The good-bad thing is we cannot figure out which one we love the most.

  • NEW Krakengärd smells like citrus, fresh herbs, and the unspeakable power of the ancient ocean.
  • Bearglove commands grizzly bear-level respect with smells of apple, citrus, and spice.
  • Hawkridge outwits unsuspecting stink with its sandalwood and vanilla scent.
  • Wolfthorn is the sort of sophisticated wolf who wears a suit that has a suave, sweet orange scent.

Head to Old Spice to get your fix from The Wild Collection. This mom and son approve!

“School is in session as actor and Old Spice Guy, Isaiah Mustafa, debuts the Old Spice School of Swagger, a new edutainment video series developed for boys entering puberty, tapping the brand’s 80 year history of helping guys navigate the seas of manhood, on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Los Angeles. The www.schoolofswagger.com video series provides answers to boys’ (and their parents) awkward puberty questions, including the importance of a good grooming regimen that starts with Old Spice’s Wild Collection of products, including new Invisible Spray anti-perspirants.”

DUDE TRUTH – Compared to girls, young guys (and their parents) don’t always have the same access to tools and resources that can help ease their transition into adulthood. When it comes to puberty, girls often take the spotlight, while guys take the backseat. Boys (and parents) can now turn to the Old Spice School of Swagger to get the much needed puberty help.

This is a great guide to raising a son from boyhood to adulthood. I raised two and Old Spice was a part of both my boys agenda. It is important to be honest with them about their body odor. Thanks for sharing the guide.

I live in a male dominant household. Even our dog is a male! LOL. Anyway, Old Spice reminds me of my dad and grandpa. It was the only after-shave they used. It is great that Old Spice has widened their product line and there are more options to choose from. My boys and my husband use Old Spice too!

I had 3 sons. Face it, boys smell. This is a perfect campaign to get them on track and smelling good.
