Every year we look forward to celebrating, trying new things, and continuing to live our lives. Some of us share common interests amongst the many things to do in the world, like being outdoors. There’s just something about stepping outside during any outdoor season and enjoying yourself. Spring, for many, marks the beginning of a long and exciting outdoor season. In other words, it will be the best time to start putting together some interesting outdoor interests. Which leads to the real question, what would be considered a great way to get your spring season jumping?
Are you familiar with a local alliance of over 50 gear builders and makers by the name of Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC? If so, you should know that they have announced something pretty special. That’s right, this spring season you may want to keep some calendar space open for a time of enjoyment.
Get In Gear Festival Turns Six
The Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC have officially announced their Sixth Annual Get In Gear (GIG) Fest on March 21, 2020! This is a day of demos, music, incredible sale prices on tried and trusted gear, and libations.
The Get In Gear (GIG) Fest is running on its sixth appearance, and you have so much to look forward to. Festival-goers can expect to enjoy gear demos and sales on seconds or brand new products from over 20 local outdoor brands such as Eagles Nest Outfitters, SylvanSport, Astral and Lightheart Gear. The festival will also feature a climbing wall courtesy of Camp Cedar Cliff, fly casting demos from Rent This Rod Outfitters, and other activities. Plus, there will be many opportunities to meet the creators and entrepreneurs who make your favorite, local outdoor gear. A raffle will be held throughout the day, with proceeds going to festival partner, The Pisgah Conservancy.
Now, this is a family-friendly and completely free event that has a little bit of something for everyone. From adrenaline junkies to the glamping specialists, you are bound to find something for you and your family to take part in. The GIG Fest will be held at the Salvage Station from 12pm-5pm! On a side note, the festival isn’t the only announcement on the table.
The area’s brand new outdoor business accelerator program, the Waypoint Accelerator, will also be in attendance showcasing Asheville’s finest new outdoor industry brands and information on their new products/services. Overall, this is just a day that you don’t want to miss out on this spring season!
