Jokes are always good for breaking the ice, but make sure your joke is good.
Approaching somebody with a bad joke usually makes you look weird, so they turn around and leave or don’t answer your message.
Try to avoid jokes based on politics, religion, and similar stuff.
Remember, you still don’t know that person.
The first contact is extremely important. You’ll either destroy your chances or come very close to success.

If you drive a Porsche, you aren’t a doctor and don’t like pizza.
Those three sentences are great for the fun ice-breaking game – Two lies and a truth. It’s a simple game, but it can be used to spark curiosity.
For the truth, use something funny or something fascinating, something that makes you look good. For the lies, use something unusual.
In the example above, most people would assume that the truth is you’re a pizza fan because most of the people are.
Imagine the surprise on her face when she finds out you don’t eat pizza, and you drive a Porsche.
You don’t have to be rich to play this game, use it wisely to show why she should continue to talk to you.
Would you rather?
Would you rather swim with sharks or do bungee jumping?
This example is an innocent version of the Would you rather game.
Friends tend to make this game pretty wild, but if you’re going to use it as an icebreaker, then be polite.
You can go with something like: “Would you rather live with your mom forever or dance with me tonight?”
If you’re going to use Would you rather break the ice, don’t leave any space for thinking.
Make sure that the thing you would rather do beats the other thing by a mile.
And try to be funny. One more thing, not everything has to be about you.
You can start with a line about you, but then you can go again with a question similar to that in our first example.
It’s a great way to learn more about the person on the other side.
“What if” questions
What if aliens attack the Earth and take all the food except broccoli?
“What if” questions are another great game to show your funny and creative side. More importantly, this game is the perfect icebreaker.
Even if you aren’t funny, ask a question, and you’ll immediately see if that person is a good fit for you. If you get an answer you’re looking for – great!
If not, try with the next person. Bars are full of people you can talk to, at least they were.
Now, online dating sites are full of people who’ll love your creative approach.

When you ask a question similar to the one from our example, you’ll get one of the two answers.
“I don’t know” or some wild guess. Regardless of the answer, you can start a conversation from there.
Same and different
“Can you tell me which coins in my hand are the same and which are different?”
This game might not work well in person, but it’s great for online dating.
You can send the same and different pictures to somebody and let them answer you.
