My kids are back in school now and when they came home yesterday, they were super hungry. Even though I packed them lunches filled with goodies, they needed more food. I had some fruit and a muffin for them when they came home from school, and they laughed at me. They are in Middle and High School now so I guess fruit and light snacks won’t work. Ugh! So I need to find something that will fill them up but not ruin their appetite for dinner. I know Buddig.com can help find something for sure!
I found the perfect recipe that is simple plus hearty enough for an after school snack. Teens eat a lot, so I need to remember that I don’t have little kids anymore. Their favorite meal is Macroni and Cheese, so I’m going in that direction and add some protein like Budding Ham or Turkey.
Old Fashioned Macaroni & Cheese– from Buddig.com
- Vegetable cooking spray
- 2-1/2 cups 2% milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 8 ounces pasteurized prepared cheese product, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- One package (16 ounces) elbow macaroni, cooked, rinsed, drained
- 8 ounces Buddig Sliced Turkey, chopped (or your favorite Buddig sliced meat)
Buddig helps me create MORE THAN A SANDWICH treat for my kids After School Snack
Combine milk and eggs in a large bowl until blended.
Stir in cheeses, add macaroni and Buddig Premium Deli meat. Put in a casserole dish then cook for 30-35 minutes. Please check the recipe and directions on Buddig.com I did use WHEAT pasta because I’m MOM and want to serve a healthier choice. When my kids came home today, they loved their After School Snack and ate the whole pot. Oh, my!
I used Buddig Premium Oven Roasted Turkey and Smoked Ham for this recipe, but there are several choices. My kids enjoyed their afterschool snack so I can say I’m part of the #BuddigDeliMoms for sure!
