Next to panic and loneliness, boredom might sound like it’s a fairly annoying emotion to be feeling. It’s true and next to depression, boredom can feel like you’re drowning.
Sometimes life gets boring, your job gets boring, your degree gets boring, and everything that you are doing feels boring because you don’t have any excitement lined up.
It’s therefore important to do everything you can to stimulate yourself and your mind, to ensure that you avoid those feelings of boredom and beat them when they happen.
To keep boredom at Bay, you need to be productive and you need to have a variety of activities that you are doing.
You decide to go online and play winter spades, or you decide to go out with friends and go rock climbing, you can keep boredom at bay.
That can lead to exhaustion and make you feel unmotivated. Let’s take a look at some brilliant ways that you can beat boredom and feel like you are back on track.

- Eat breakfast in a different place every day. A good way to stop feeling like you’re stuck in a rut or part of a routine that never seems to end is to change up where you have your breakfast every morning. You don’t necessarily have to sit at the table, or you don’t have to sit at your desk at work. Going in another room or going onto the balcony or eating out in the garden can really make a difference to how you feel in the morning. Instead of feeling bored, you can feel inspired. You want to make your day start well, not not with monotony.
- Some exercise going. Starting off your day with some exercise can really help you to combat that feeling of not wanting to get out of bed. You want to get rid of all the mounting tension in your body, and while a full great workout is a good idea if you’re not quite up for it, a dance Session can have the same effect. Don’t forget, unless you injure yourself, it’s not likely to feel worse after you exercise.
- Blast music while you shower. We’re living in a time where we are fixating on good hygiene, and so you should. That doesn’t mean it has to be boring to stand in the shower and wash your body though. Blasting some good music can help you to bop while you wash and make you feel more energized as you start your day. Don’t forget to include some refreshing scents like eucalyptus or citrus or peppermint as these will all help you to feel energized and more focused while you wash.
- Listen to a podcast while you get your chores done. Popping in some headphones while you get your jaws done makes it go far quicker than if you were just in silence getting things cleaned. You could also do this with music, but a podcast helps you to engage your brain and think while you are getting some cleaning done. It’s a good way to feel like you are getting somewhere and it helps to get your chores done faster.
- Find something creative to do. It’s nice to Netflix and chill at the end of the day, especially when you’re feeling tired. But it does get really repetitive and there are only so many programs and movies you can watch before you get bored. If you’re tired of staring at the screen, get creative and find some artwork to do, or make models or whatever you choose, you’ll be able to do something fun.
- Learn to cook something new. Whether you go to a class or you head on to YouTube and find someone to follow along with the recipe, learning to cook something new is a great way to add a little bit of fun to your evening. So you’re making dinner and you’re getting bored of having the same foods over and over again. Getting online and finding something new to cook is a good way of having some fun and alleviating that evening boredom. Not only will you achieve something, but you come out of it with a delicious meal.
- Start journaling. You already know that journaling is good for mental health, but it’s also great for boredom. There’s plenty of research that backs it up, too, that journaling is a good way to sit and unwind at the end of the day.
