Tulum
Places like Cancun and Cabo, while must-see spots, are probably the two most famous towns in the country.

Another mind-blowing site you need to see is a short drive outside of Mexico City.
However, the sprawling ruins of Teotihuacan are best seen from the air.

You can see many famous structures such as the Pyramid of the Moon, the Pyramid of the Sun, and the stretch to the Temple of Quetzalcoatl.
Copper Canyon Train Ride
The Copper Canyon is the Mexican equivalent of the Grand Canyon and features a unique way to explore it.
The Copper Canyon looks like something from another planet, and the train ride takes you right to its heart.
The train starts in Los Mochis and travels all the way to Chihuahua, with multiple stops along the way in the canyon for you to get off and explore.
Don’t expect dozens of easy walking and hiking paths, but unforgettable views are guaranteed.
Cenote Diving
The Yucatan Peninsula has over 6000 cenotes, or sinkholes, which were caused by the meteor that struck the earth and wiped out the dinosaurs.
These sinkholes spread across the peninsula, with many being found off the coast.
You can take a dive into these cenotes and discover the thousands of unique creatures and ecosystems that call these areas home.
Whale Shark Encounters
The Mexican coast also plays host to hundreds of whale sharks. While other cities offer adrenaline-pumping shark cage diving, these gentle giants are a sight to behold.
They are also fairly harmless, being neither whales or sharks, but rather just enormous fish.
From May to July, multiple operators offer boat rides out to sea and gear to allow you to dive and snorkel amongst these fantastic animals.
Lucha Libre
Another exciting activity is going to a Lucha libre wrestling match.
Much like other professional wrestling, it is staged to an extent, but what sets Lucha libre apart is the incredible production quality, the beloved wrestlers, and the intricate masks and outfits.
Luchadors are well-respected athletes in Mexico and take their work seriously, even going as far as never removing their masks, whether they’re in the ring or in public.

Street Food
While Thailand holds the title of being the country with the best street food, many believe Mexico should be number 1 instead.
Not only can you find hundreds of stands selling the freshest produce and even more restaurants, but you also get an authentic Mexican cuisine experience.
You can get everything from fresh fish tacos to a simple barbecued cob of corn.
Once again, the food is extremely affordable, with barely anything costing more than a dollar or two, if that.
Dia de Los Muertos
Depending on when you travel to Mexico, you may be lucky enough to experience Dia de Los Muertos or the Day of the Dead.
Taking place at the end of October, the festival sees citizens dress up in brightly colored suits and dresses and paint the famous skulls on their faces.
Dia de Los Muertos is a festival that celebrates Mexican culture and also the lives of those who have passed away.
It is filled with music, shows, and of course, a ton of dancing and food.
