5 Ways To Honor Your Deceased Dog

Most pets are members of people’s families, and in some cases, like their children. When that beloved pet passes, people can grieve them for a very long time. To honor your dog’s memory, there are several things you can do, including those on the list below.

5 Ways to Honor Your Deceased Dog

Create a Gem

To treasure your beloved dog, consider having a company create a gem from his or her ashes. The most popular gemstone that companies create from ashes is diamonds. However, other companies create crystals that are the color and shape of other gems, like:

  • Garnet
  • Emerald
  • Onyx
  • Sapphire
  • Ruby

Donate in His or Her Name

If your dog was a rescue from the Humane Society or another local shelter, make a cash donation to the shelter in your dog’s name.

If the shelter no longer exists, donate to another one in your area. Animal shelters are always seeking donations, whether it is cash, pet food, or other supplies.

If your dog passed away from a specific disease, you might be able to donate money to an organization seeking a cure for that disease. There are many ways to honor your pet with donations, and you may help other dogs find homes of their own.

Place a Memorial in Your Yard

Instead of burying your pet’s ashes in a pet cemetery, create a flower garden or find a spot in your yard that your dog loved to go to and then bury their ashes in that spot or garden. You can then mark the spot with a replica of them or perhaps place a memorial plaque on a bench or tree.

If your pet was a golden retriever, you could get a Golden Retriever garden statue to put where their ashes are in your garden. The garden will be a beautiful memorial to the pet you loved, no matter their breed.

Write a Book

Dogs have wonderful personalities and they are often mischievous. When you look back on the memories of your pet, write down their antics and adventures. Then, when you have a collection of them, make them into a book.

Add the pictures you have of them to the book to make it come alive for the people who read it. It could be a book of memories for you and your family, or you can write a book that you may be able to publish professionally.

Post a Memorial Video Online

With cameras easily accessible now, you may have video footage along with pictures on your cell phone that you would want to share with family and friends. The best and easiest way to share it is to post it online.

There are several platforms you can put it on, including Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Use a video editor on your computer to create a montage that you could add music too. Then, post on it your account or create an account specifically for the ode to your best fur buddy.

It can hurt to lose a pet as much as it can to lose a friend or a relative. Honor your dog by doing something to remember him or her. You can use one of these suggestions or look up others so that you can find something more suitable for you.
