If you have finally bought your contact lens, congratulations and welcome to a more convenient life. Here are some tips you can follow in order to make the transition from eyeglasses to contact lens easier. My acuvue moist lenses really make the experience from with from glasses to contact lenses a lot simpler
- Follow the doctor’s prescription – first and foremost, you should have consulted with the doctor first before you switched to wearing contact lenses from your prescription glasses. If your doctor has given you specific brands that you can purchase such as contact lenses plus, make sure you follow them so that you will not encounter any problems. Don’t be swayed by marketing strategies that will try to sway you to buy a different brand. Always ask your doctor first, especially if you have special cases when it comes to your prescription glasses.
- Relax – some are afraid to switch or to start wearing their contact lenses because they are afraid of scratching their eyes or destroying their contact lens. You need to relax and take it easy. The first few times you wear them, they will really feel uncomfortable at first, especially the first time where you will spend some minutes with your eyes shedding tears because of the contact lens. But as time goes by, you will get used to it and it will no longer feel like something that is impossible to do.
- Make sure your hands are clean – it’s always important to keep your hands clean every time you hold your contact lenses. Even if you say that you did not touch anything, that will still not guarantee that there is no residue or small objects that can transfer from your hands to your contact lenses. It’s not only your hands that need to be cleaned, but you must always clean your contact lens after and before wearing them. Have your contact lens solution ready and follow the instructions for cleaning. Put them on your palm, put some solution to it, and using your finger clean the contact lens. This will ensure that it will be free from any foreign object that may irritate your eyes when you wear them. Also, make sure to use a fresh contact lens solution when you keep them at night.
- Have some drops with you at all times – one of the things that you should watch out for when you are wearing contact lenses is when the lens feel like they are drying up. Depending on the nature of your work, you may be exposed to a lot of dry air that is why it is very important to hydrate your eyes or else they would feel uncomfortable. Just make sure your drops are compatible with your contact lens. There are some contact lens solutions that can already double as eye drops so check to see if yours can do that.
- Make sure you wear them for the correct length of time – always follow the rules given to you. If you are told to only wear the lenses for 8-10 hours a day then do so. Making up your own rules can lead to dangerous repercussions that can affect your vision.
Wearing contacts can be a little stressful, especially when it is your first time. No matter the case, you want to put your eyes in hands you can trust. Just breathe in, relax and follow what I have written above. It will be fine!
