When it comes to travel bucket lists, the usual destinations tend to surface – like Paris, Rome, London, Australia, Madrid, and even Iceland. There’s nothing wrong with these destinations – in fact, you should visit – but if the goal is to immerse yourself in breathtaking views and ancient history, Egypt should be near the very top of the list.

5 Reasons to Visit

According to one report, Egypt is the hottest destination for billionaire travelers for 2019. And though that may not mean much to you, it just goes to show how far the perception of this ancient country has come.

“You don’t have to look far to see Egypt’s appeal: It has a rich Pharaonic history and plenty of iconic landmarks, not to mention Greek, Roman, and Islamic influences to explore,” Business Insider reports. “Like most travelers, billionaires visit Egypt to soak up its sights and history — but they do so while taking advantage of Egypt’s plentiful luxury offerings, from fine dining restaurants in Cairo to beach resorts along the coast of the Red Sea.”

The good news is that you don’t have to be a billionaire (nor a millionaire, for that matter) to enjoy everything that Egypt has to offer. All you’ll need is one of the all-inclusive Egypt vacation packages and you’re set for the most magical experience. So if you do plan a trip, know that there’s plenty to see and experience – including:

  • Pyramids

There’s no more quintessential symbol of Egyptian culture and history than the pyramid. Most people have an image of what a pyramid looks like in their head – and it’s typically tied to a history textbook – but there are actually dozens of different types of pyramids spread all over Egypt.

“The largest and best known of the Egyptian pyramids are found in Giza, which is located just outside of Egypt’s capital city, Cairo,” Touropia mentions. “However, the Giza Plateau isn’t the only place where you can spot historic pyramids. These ancient structures can be found across Egypt, and many visitors aim to see as many of them as possible during their stay.”

If you want to get the most bang for your buck and see the pyramids in all their glory, you can book an Egyptian pyramid tour. It’s well worth the price and will be one of the highlights of your entire trip.

  • Spirituality

Most people aren’t aware of the fact that Egypt is a very spiritual nation. Inside some of the larger cities, you’ll find gorgeous mosques and quiet places of worship. Some of the more impressive ones include the Amr Ibn Alias, Ibn Tulun, and the Mosque of Muhammed Ali. There are also some neat temples, like the Luxor Temple and Kalabsha.

  • Desert Adventures

The Western Desert in Egypt is desolate, yet breathtakingly beautiful. While there are plenty of ways to soak in the views, it’s highly recommended that you go out and play in the desert.

As tourism has risen in Egypt, so have the desert adventure offerings. You can hike, ride camels, or event rent an ATV and spin around in style. Whatever you choose to do, some time spent in the desert will prove to be a relaxing complement to the city crowds.

  • Top-Notch Resorts

Egypt is slowly but surely building a reputation as a resort destination. It has all of the classic resort names – like Four Seasons and Marriot – as well as boutique facilities that offer world-class accommodations. If you’re looking to be pampered in a unique setting, this could be exactly what your heart desires.

  • World-Class Scuba Diving

Again, Egypt isn’t typically known for its scuba diving, but its reputation is growing. There are more than 100 different shipwrecks in the Red Sea. If you’re a certified scuba diver, you could spend weeks exploring the wreckage and basking in the tropical marine life. (Look out for stingrays!) If you’ve never been scuba diving before, you could take some lessons and go out as part of a group dive. It’s well worth it!

Add Egypt to Your Bucket List

It’s not the first place most travelers think to visit, but you won’t be disappointed if you plan a trip to Egypt. From iconic pyramids to relaxing resorts, this eclectic country has a variety of sights, sounds, and experiences for everyone. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience it all.
