Your Day Bag Checklist

Summer is here! Which means long days out enjoying the sunshine, making lots of memories and enjoy a glass or two or something extra cold. There’s nothing I love more than heading out for the day and going under my own steam. Whether that’s heading to my favorite café in town and enjoying the sights and sounds of my hometown or traveling a little further out of my way and discovering a potential new favorite.

No matter where I end up, I have found that having a well-stocked and well packed day bag can often make or break a day out. You don’t want to be left without the essentials when you’re out and about and at the same time, you don’t want to be overloaded with things you don’t need. Here you’ll find my personal take on what to put in your day bag.

Enjoy!

Your sun protection kit

It’s summer which (hopefully) means glorious sunshine. So, you need to protect yourself from the suns powerful rays. I always bring a sun protection kit with me, which consists of high factor sun cream, a good pair of sunglasses – check out circle sunglasses here – a sun hat, some after-sun, cooling spray and of course some water in a reusable bottle. The last thing you want to be worrying about is whether or not you’re burning and that you’re super thirsty!

Consider printing a map

If you’re heading somewhere new and getting lost is part of your adventure then skip this part! However, if you’re wanting to make the most of your time visiting a new place and want to schedule your time well, then consider printing off a map from Google Maps. I find looking at a physical map much easier rather than trying to find the app to open it and then to adjust my phone to the right direction. Especially when I’m in a busy place!

Keep it clean!

Most parents don’t leave the house without them and it’s easy to see why! Bringing a little pack of wet wipes with you is a great idea, especially if you’re making a mess with your lunch or you want to wipe your hands after a stick ice cream. Hand sanitizer is also a great addition; perfect for using after visiting the bathroom.

Snacks

You might be intending to try out a new café and have a delicious lunch, but there’s nothing worse than those pangs of hunger before you get to your destination. Low blood sugar can make you feel woozy and that’s no way to spend a lovely day out. So, make sure you bring some snacks along with you. Some nuts, cereal bars, and fruit are good choices that will certainly suppress your appetite without spoiling your lunch.

Spare clothes

As long as you dress accordingly for your day out you should be fine. But it’s always worth packing a few extra items just in case. Even if they don’t leave the car. A spare top in case you’re feeling little sweaty, spare socks and even another set of shoes.
