Encountering wildlife usually makes the hallmarks for people on holiday. Orangutans
Orangutans have 97% of their DNA match that of the human beings and they are way up high in the intelligence hierarchy amongst the primates. The old ones may not be any attractions since they almost look like the monkeys you are accustomed to seeing in the wild and in the zoos. However, the young ones are a sight to behold – they are extremely cute, with innocent looking eyes, smooth fur, and a very pretty face.
If you fancy seeing this animal when they are young, then you have every reason to make your way to Malaysia and the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Borneo. In this place, you will find what has been dubbed as the Orangutan Odysseys and Orangutan Projects where you can see these and all manner of apes in their natural habitats. It is primarily a rescue facility whose main objective is to take care of the young and orphaned orangutans.
Giraffes
There is no denying that giraffes are the world’s tallest land mammals and their babies are also very big, usually standing at about 2m tall at the time of birth. They are common animals in most of the national parks in Africa, and their meekness and friendliness make interacting with them so nice and easy, compared to other wild animals where you will have to mind about your security every time you come too close. If you want to see the best sightings of giraffes, then the place to be is at the Manor Giraffe Center in Nairobi. At this place, you will not just have a chance to see and pet the small giraffes, but also you will interact closely with the big ones as they will always come and get their necks through the windows hoping to get some treats as you take your meals inside the hotels. It is always a wonderful experience to hand over treats to them and see how they pick up the foods with their tongue and toss it down their long necks.
Baby Pandas
The characteristic white and black colors on pandas have made them so distinct and they are also one of the cute animals you will ever come across in this world. They may not be as meek as you may desire for them to be so that you can pet them, but if you can manage to watch your distance and not agitate them, then they are very pretty animals.
At Sichuan Province in the city of Chengdu, China, you will find a humongous number of these cute animals in a sanctuary, where you can see both the young and the old ones. This is where the public is allowed to even interact more closely with the baby pandas by feeding, petting and putting the young ones to sleep. What happens at the Chengdu Center is that the pandas are taken in when they are still young, they are then tended to until they become big enough and able to stand on their own, then they are released back into the jungle.
Elephants
When elephants are fully grown, they are huge, intimidating and very dangerous. Even interacting with them when they are young is highly discouraged from being very close to them. There are several cases where people got trampled upon by simply being too close to the animals. However, young elephants are cute and seeing them will always be pleasurable. The best place to see them, therefore, Chobe National Park in Botswana.
This is the place with the highest concentration of elephants in the entire planet, dwarfing places such as Thailand and other areas in Asia which have been known to have large herds of elephants. If you want to get the most out of this experience, you can visit during the dry seasons between the months of May and October as this is the time when the herds will come in their thousands to drink from the drying river banks.
Penguins
If you are an Antarctic adventure traveler, then seeing baby penguins will come with a lot of gratification. There are several species of penguins around the world, and all their babies will always exude extreme beauty. If you want to get a great sighting of these lovely creatures, then the best time to tour Antarctica is around November when most of them are getting hatched. Kodiak Bears
When they are fully grown, the Kodiak bears are the largest bears in the world, and when they are cubs, they are one of the cute animals you will ever lay your eyes upon. If you want to see these bears as cubs, then you will have to find your way to Alaska’s Kodiak Archipelago at the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. In this place, you will find a population of over 3500 Kodiak bears – the densest population of bears in the world. The best time of the year to come here and see the clubs is during summer since it is when they come out of the woods for the first time.
