Warm Welcomes: Turning Your Attention to Your Home’s Entrances

The entrances to your home are some of the first things you see when you approach it. Whether you enter through the front, back or side of your home, you want to have a warm welcome. Your doors are built to last a long time, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need some care and attention now and then. The inside of your home’s entrance is important too and should provide a warm space that welcomes you back home. Of course, you also want your entrances to present a good impression to guests and maybe even potential buyers if you have decided to sell. Try these ideas to update your home’s entrances.

Update Exterior Doors

Your exterior doors serve two purposes. They should look good, but they’re also there to keep you and your home safe. They need to be secure and stylish at the same time. The most important thing to do is ensure that your doors can keep you safe. But if you’re happy with your home’s security, you can then turn to how it looks. A new door could be a great idea if you don’t like the one you have. However, a lick of paint could be just as good if you want a simpler option. You can also update with small features, like a door knocker or new handle.

Get a New Garage Door

If you have a garage, its door is much more noticeable than your front or back doors. It needs to be large enough to get a car through, so there’s no hiding it. However, your garage door doesn’t have to be ugly and industrial. There are many beautiful designs you can select, from carriage house doors to overhead doors. You can think about the design of the door and how it operates for practicality too. Garage door installation doesn’t have to take long. You might choose a door that stands out or one that blends into the rest of the garage and house. As with your exterior doors, you can select decorative features to enhance it too.

Add Some Outdoor Lighting

Some outdoor lights around your home’s entrances are ideal if you often leave or get home in the dark. Not only that, but they make your house look better from the street too. Plus, they can enhance security, allowing you to turn on a light if you hear a noise. You could have an automatic porch light, or put a couple of lamps on either side of the door. Some lighting on your driveway could also be useful to guide you into the garage.

Create a Warm Welcome

Don’t forget about the inside of your home’s entrances. Whether you step into a hallway from the front of the house or a mud room from the back, you want to feel like you’re home. Keeping everything neat and organized is essential when everyone takes off their shoes and coats when they get in. But you can also think beyond storage to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Make your home more attractive both inside and out by paying attention to your entrances. It can make a significant difference.
