It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The Christmas season is upon us, and if you’ve read my latest posts, you know that I’m very excited. There are so many fun activities to do this winter (see ‘Family Traditions During the Holiday’), and playing games is one of them. Poki.com hosts a plethora of Christmas video games, all of which are free. The top 5 Christmas games are listed below. Read on and start playing!
- Sugar, Sugar: CS
If you haven’t tried any of Bart Bonte’s games, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. The original Sugar, Sugar was his first big hit. It’s a drawing game that tasks players with pouring sugar into a cup—of coffee, I hope! Sugar, Sugar: CS (also known as Sugar, Sugar: The Christmas Special) sprinkles holiday cheer onto the original game’s action.
Right from the beginning, we’re greeted by a reindeer on a bright red background. The first level is filled with snowflakes and sugar. Just like in Sugar, Sugar, all we have to do is draw a path for the white grains to follow. The first level is nice and simple, requiring only one line to win. After that, the action gets tougher! In round 2, a couple of friendly reindeer are holding empty cups. If we can draw two paths to move sugar into each mug, we win.
Sugar, Sugar: CS is loaded with Christmas joy. The colors are authentic to December 25th, and sleigh bells make the upbeat soundtrack feel extra festive. The action is simple enough for non-gamers, and it’s fun enough for everyone! BUT … if you aren’t into playing a Christmas game on Christmas, you can always try choosing something else, for example Clicker Heroes game that will provide you with plenty of excitement and fun.
- Monkey Go Happy: Xmas Tree
If you haven’t played any of the Monkey Go Happy games, once again, you’re missing out! The Pencil Kids series is many years old, and there are more than 40 great games. Monkey Go Happy: Xmas Tree is one of the newest, and it’s also one of the best. As you could’ve guessed, this game is a Christmas-themed version of the classic point-and-click puzzles.
There are seven different characters in Monkey Go Happy: Xmas Tree. Some are young, some are old, and others are very young (or very old!). The most successful games in this series are downright silly, and this one is no different. Each monkey can stay warm in a furry hat or Santa’s stocking cap. Then, it’s time to light the tree!
Monkey Go Happy: Xmas Tree is all about exploration. We can visit a log cabin and look for clues near the fire. There are mini-games and puzzles that I found quite challenging! When you win, you get a special item to use somewhere else. Enter a dark cave, talk to others near the bridge, and make sure the Christmas tree is lit!
- Angry Gran Run: Christmas Village
The holiday hilarity continues in Angry Gran Run: Christmas Village. Another great sequel, this game has colorful 3D graphics. I’ve seen my daughter play Subway Surfers enough to know just how entertaining 3D running games can be. In this one, we’re sprinting out of the Angry Asylum. We can “bash punks,” who are any people that get in our way! The snowy village is loaded with Christmas gifts, elves, and candy canes. The action in this one is fast, fun, and won’t make you furious!
Angry Gran Run: Christmas Village also has plenty of extras. The Invincibility power-up lets us bust through any obstacles without getting hurt. The Slow Time ability makes me feel like a superhero with lightning-fast reflexes. For nonstop, 3D action, don’t miss out on this one!
- Santa Rockstar: Metal Xmas 3
There’s always music playing at our house. As soon as Thanksgiving ends, I devote all my listening time to Christmas music…because it’s the best! Santa Rockstar: Metal Xmas 3 puts a rock-and-roll spin on holiday songs. Grab a virtual guitar, and rock out to Joy to the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, and Carol of the Bells.
There are two playing styles in Santa Rockstar. In Basic mode, we use the ASDKL keys to play notes in each song. This is an easy way to get started. In Rockstar mode, we hold the keyboard like a guitar! That means we get to look awesome while feeling like a musician on stage!
- Santa Rider 2
Who says Santa Claus only flies in a sleigh? Santa Rider 2 has us racing across the North Pole on golden dirt bikes and ATVs. Each vehicle is chock-full of holiday charm. We can glide on icy mountains, backflip over trees, and stick the landing for extra points. There are also countless presents floating in each level. Santa Rider 2 takes a tried-and-true game genre (motorbike racing) and turns it into a Christmas classic.
