Halloween may look differently for households across the nation. Some areas may have restrictions and other areas may not.

Mask mandates and social distancing requirements may hamper your previous Halloween traditions, like costumes and Halloween onesies!

While this may sound awful, there are ways you can safely host a Halloween party at home, while following all current mandates or recommendations.

If you’re looking for creative ways to enjoy a Halloween party during our current times, then you’ve come to the right place.

Today I’m sharing some tips that will help you plan and host a Halloween party while working to get everyone safe.

Set the Date

The first part of hosting a Halloween party is to know what date and time you’ll host this special event.

You might want to host it on a weekend when no one is working, or a weeknight.

Determine who you can safely invite to this Halloween party and then set the date in stone.

Plan for Social Distancing

The next step to hosting a Halloween party at home during our current times is to make a plan for social distancing.

You might need to put tape down on the ground and floors to help keep people further apart.

Consider hosting the Halloween party outdoors where social distancing is easier.

Set the Décor Theme

Your next step is to determine how you’ll set the décor theme and what type of food you’ll serve.

You can purchase discounted Halloween themed decorations for your Halloween party at the local dollar store, and you can get Halloween wrapping paper if you are going to be providing party favors for your guests.

Check the weather so that your decorations won’t get ruined if placing them outdoors.

Plan the Menu

You’ll want to try to refrain from buffet-style food, rather create individual premade platters for each guest.

This can be lots of fun as you create a dish for each guest that includes Halloween themed treats and food, such as meatball eyeballs and ghoulish cupcakes.

Make a Playlist

The best Halloween party at home will have a playlist of spooky music that gets your guests pumped up dancing around and enjoying the spirit of Halloween.

You could have a dance contest, or use the playlist to play different tones during different activities at the party.

Plan Halloween Activities

The whole point of hosting a Halloween party is to have some fun with your closest friends and family members.

You’ll want to plan some fun Halloween activities like bobbing for apples, pin the tail on the black cat, and trick or treating in the backyard.

These are just some of my best tips to help you host a Halloween party at home this year!

You can expand upon my ideas with more fun such as a hayride if you have an option to do that, and a fog machine to make things even spookier.

Halloween is such a fun time of year because the weather is cooler so your friends and family are able to enjoy an outdoor event before winter season rolls in.
