If you love having family movie nights or gaming marathons, then creating a family entertainment room is a great idea. Creating a room where your family can have fun, will allow you to spend some much-needed quality time together.

Ask your family what they want
Hold a family meeting and ask everyone what they would like from the family entertainment room. It’s important that you involve the whole family in the decisions, as you want it to be a space that everyone is happy to use.
Instead of having lots of different activities in there, would your children prefer a home movie theater? Would your family prefer a pool table to a foosball table? Get everyone together and find out what it is that your family wants.
Make it comfortable
No matter what your family want to use the entertainment room for, it should be a comfortable space. The main thing to remember is that there should be enough room for the whole family to lounge in there – so make sure that you have enough seats.
Your family will be happier spending time in the entertainment room if it is comfortable. To make the room as comfortable as possible, invest in giant beanbags, sofas, floor pillows, and cozy throws.
Invest in large television
Whether your entertainment room will be used for movie marathons or gaming, it’s a good idea to invest in a large television. Investing in a large television will make watching movies and playing games, even more enjoyable.
As well as getting a new television, look out for reasonably priced cable television and high-speed Internet packages. If you plan on streaming any movies in your entertainment room, having fast internet is a must. Cable television is also great, as often, cable channels have showings of some of the newest movie releases on them.
Have a snacks cupboard
If there is enough space, turn a corner of the room into a snack area. Your snack area can be as simple as a cupboard filled with crisps, or as elaborate as having your own frozen yogurt making station.
Plug a small fridge in and fill it with all of yours and your children’s favorite drinks, and if there is space, add a microwave, too. That way if you fancy a movie snack, you can quickly prepare some delicious popcorn, just like you would get at the movies.
If you would prefer your family to eat healthier snacks, get fruit, vegetable crisps and low-fat hummus.
