Tips For Collaboration Projects

Collaboration projects, or collabs, have been trending for quite a long time. Content creators from all over have come together to create amazing collabs, and it is just as hot in the music industry.

Whether you are a budding artist or have been on the scene for years, it may be difficult to come up with an idea for a collab.

Here are some tips to help you find your next big project.

Go Outside Your Comfort Zone

Have you ever wanted to work with an artist that was not part of your genre? Not to worry! Just because you are different does not mean that you can’t collaborate with them and make a hit. Just look at Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

They have completely different styles and are classified into different genres, but their song Old Town Road stayed on the charts for a long time.

Reach out to the artist that you want to collab with and see what you can come up with together!

Do it Differently

You may find yourself listening to your favorite songs and wondering how you can possibly make anything that comes close.

This is why genres exist. No type of music belongs to one artist.

Anyone could take someone else’s song, with the same music and lyrics, and it would sound completely different depending on their style.

If you want to stick your toe into the water, collaborate with someone on a cover of a song.

Section it Out

Just because you are known for one particular genre of music does not mean that you can’t experiment with others.

There are artists that love to create new styles and projects all the time. Take Danny Sexbang, also known as Dan Avidan.

While Avidan is known for his co-host role on Game Grumps and as the singer of Ninja Sex Party, he has recently collaborated with Jim Roach to create Shadow Academy, a project that sounds entirely different and has been met with resounding success.

Doing so has diversified Avidan’s portfolio. Sometimes it is better to try a few different flavors of sound rather than just sticking to one.

All it takes is finding that right person with whom to collaborate and a little faith, and you could be hitting the charts in no time.

Start Simple if Need Be

It might seem daunting to even start a collab when you have never done one before.

That is perfectly normal. If you are just starting to venture into the realm of collaboration, it is good to stick with what you know.

If you are a country artist, for example, and you want to collab with someone without taking too much of a risk, try doing a collab with a fellow country artist and see how you feel.

Collaboration projects are phenomenal works of art, and it is always exciting to see what people come up with.

By keeping these tips in mind, you can begin your collab journey in no time!
