Things to Consider Before Buying a Bathrobe

Bathrobes are one of the most personal pieces of garments that you might own. It exudes the feeling of warmth, comfort, and luxe besides providing you with the necessary cover and protection after the bath. Do you remember your bathrobe from your last stay at a luxury 5-star hotel or the one you were offered at an elite spa? Most of us miss the softness, elegance, and comfort of those luxurious bathrobes in the ones that we use at homes. This is because many of us buy cheap bathrobes to serve the purpose of wrapping us up, without putting in much thought| about purchasing the right kind of bathrobes. As odd it might sound, picking up any random robe off the racks will never give you the desired look and feel. It is crucial that you consider a few important factors to get that classic fit and cozy feeling that you think with bathrobes you use at hotels at spas.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Bathrobe

The Right Fabric

The quality of your bathrobe is primarily driven by the kind of fabric they are made up of. Fabric effects factors such as absorbency level, durability, and feel of the bathrobe on your body. There is a huge variety of fabric available in the market when it comes to bathrobe fabrics, each one having their pros and cons. There are high grade 100% cotton bathrobes, low-grade cotton bathrobes and mixed blends where cotton is mixed with polyester.

The most expensive bathrobes are the ones made up of 100% high-quality cotton. They are known for their elegant look and luxe luxurious feeling with an excellent absorbency level. Turkish and Egyptian cotton bathrobes are known for the most exceptional quality of cotton bathrobes. That being said, pure cotton is highly prone to shrinkage and wrinkles which is why an excellent pure cotton bathrobe needs to undergo shrink-free and wrinkle-free treatments.

The other option that is also used by most hotels and spas is to use a mixed microfiber or microfleece blend which is 85% cotton and 15% polyester. Mixing polyester with cotton keeps them free of wrinkle and shrinkage. Polyester also keeps the bathrobes from losing their shine despite multiple washes.

The Right Weave

Although you might find those rough towel-like weaves, they do not have the plush soft feel. Ideally, terrycloth and waffle weaves are best for a soft, comfortable look. Terrycloth is known for better absorbency and is plushier. However, if you want something light and soft with a better fit, then waffle weaves would be your best bet.

The Right Style

Just like any other piece of stitched gather, bathrobes have their styles and cuts, and you have to choose the one that would suit your preferences. There are many different styles of bathrobes to choose from. If you prefer something that would give you maximum warmth and coziness, go for shawl collared or hooded bathrobes. If you prefer a more tailored fit, a kimono style would be a better choice.
