Things To Buy Before You Move Into Your New Home

Once you have signed on the dotted line and made it official that you are going to be moving into a new home, it makes good sense to start getting prepared for the move.

As well as having to sort out the removal of your existing items and furniture, there are some new purchases which you can make ahead of the move.

When it comes to buying homewares Australia and its stores will often take orders for items which are not going to be delivered right away, which is one reason to get ahead.

Another reason is that you want to ensure that your move and that first night in the property goes well.

Here then are some items which you should look to buy early.

Basic Tools

Moving into a property always needs tools to get things set up, to take furniture apart or perhaps even to get items into the property in the first place.

It will be an awkward situation if you are stuck outside with a sofa because you have no tools to take the door off, so be sure that at the very least you have some basic level tools.

A hammer, screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a wrench will come in very handy.

Cleaning Supplies

It would be lovely to walk into a freshly cleaned property but let’s be honest, this is so very rarely the case.

Stocking up on cleaning supplies makes great sense because there will be no better opportunity to give the place a full clean, than when it is almost empty.

Smoke Detector

If the property doesn’t already have smoked detectors then this is something which should be installed right away.

Each floor should have a detector and also a carbon monoxide detector.

These are cheap to buy, easy to install and over course, offer life saving benefits.

Bed and Mattress

As mentioned at the top, there are some items which you will buy that are not available to you right away, such as a bed and a mattress.

If you wish to avoid sleeping on your freshly cleaned floor on the first night in your new home, be sure that you have pre-ordered your bed and mattress weeks before the move.

White Goods

White goods are another example of purchases which you will have to wait for, and when it comes to your fridge and washing machine, these are items which you will want installed as early as possible.

Home Insurance

And finally it makes sense to get your home insurance policy started right away, even if you still have an existing policy.

Moving in alone presents a higher chance of something going wrong in the property and beyond this it just makes good sense to get covered as soon as you possibly can.

These are the areas where you should be focusing on once you have a firm date for moving into your new property.
