The Hunt Is Over: Best Wrinkle Cream of 2018

Spoiler: I’m currently obsessed with a new night gel extracted from a “miracle” hot spring in California. I know…stick with me though. The company claims as we get older, our skin loses oxygen leading to dull, dry, and wrinkly skin. So, is it really as simple as adding oxygen back to the skin?

Best Wrinkle Cream

I think it really could be.

Before I dive into the review, let me just back up a second and explain how this all started. A few months ago, during my sister’s birthday party in LA, my six-year-old nephew jumped into my lap, poked my face, and proudly declared me “old.” I love the kid, but not in that moment.

So after dabbing away my tears and letting the anguish over the realities of aging subside, I decided my daily skin routine needed a serious shot of adrenaline. I went through my bathroom and tossed everything that came from a drugstore. Then the hunt began.

Over the next couple months, I tried La Mer’s Concentrate cream and started to see my skin soften a bit, but at $360 per ounce and little to show in results, it wasn’t the miracle in a bottle I expected.

I moved on to SK-II. At first, I was impressed, but after a week or so I realized my skin was feeling tight and a little greasy. I tend to need creams with more hydration in addition to oil-based ingredients. I thought this would be it, and for the price, it should have been.

I spent so much time and money trying everything from Dior, Sunday Riley, Tata Harper, and Drunk Elephant just to name some more. Nothing made any significant difference at all in my skin.

Feeling SUPER disheartened and (still) old, I continued my search by reading through review after review, digging through beauty blogs, and watching YouTube videos.

That’s when I stumbled across B22 Night Gel. I never heard of the product, but the killer reviews piqued my curiosity and dubious me decided to give it a try.

Let me just say: Best. Decision. Ever. The cream itself has a super light lavender scent and feels so smooth and velvety on my skin. It absorbs easily unlike some of the other creams I tried that were so thick and heavy I practically needed a spatula to smooth them on.

The gel is naturally derived (CHECK!) and formulated from the hot springs of the Coachella Desert Valley. Sounds mysterious, but the benefit apparently comes from the oxygen-rich, mineral-filled waters. I learned the manufacturer, United Oxygen, has been in the oxygen business for 40+ years and this product and its proprietary formula is an accumulation of their expertise in the oxygen and health space. Pretty cool.

After using B22 for several weeks I started to notice my skin soften and the deepest wrinkles on my forehead start to smooth out and melt away. I can actually say my skin looks and feels brighter and healthier. Now I don’t even feel like I necessarily need to wear cover-up to go out for the day.

I applied it every night before bed and I’d recommend it for normal to dry skin, although I gave some to my friend with oily skin to try out and she also reported great results. A little goes a long way, which is great since I’m still on the same jar weeks later. It soaks right in, no greasy residue– just beautifully hydrated skin.

Somehow, it also costs less than the other big-name brands. I picked up my jar for just $120 and already have the next one on automatic order.

And maybe this is minor to some, but I care a lot about the details. This little jar and packaging were so beautifully designed you might find yourself snapping some shelfies (guilty).

I have another trip to LA coming up in a few weeks. Let’s see what my nephew has to say this time!
