The Darkling Bride is written by Laura Andersen. This book tells the story of the Gallagher family that has called the Deeprath Castle home for over seven hundred years. The Deeprath Castle is located in Wicklow Mountains of Ireland. Now, the Deeprath Castle is being given up to a public trust. The book starts off with an Irish history graduate, Carragh Ryan, who is sent to the Deeprath Castle to take inventory of its historic library. During her time there, she meets Aiden Gallagher and his family. Carragh learns that her job will be much more challenging than she thought.

As the story goes on you learn about Aiden and his parents, Lord and Lady Gallagher,  that were mysteriously murdered and was labeled a cold case. You learn about Jenny Gallagher’s death that also occured in the Deeprath Castle.

Gothic Story

Scandal, romance, lies, and deceit are uncovered as you read through this book. You cannot help but to keep reading as you want to know the truth as much as Aiden, Carragh, and the police want to know. The Darkling Bride is the perfect read for anyone that loves mysteries and history. With three generation of families spanning from the 1880’s, 1990’s, and 2015, you start seeing the connections. The scenes in the book are beautifully described. Suspense keeps you on your toes and turning the page to find out what happens next. The cast of characters are intriguing. I really enjoyed reading the book to found out who is the Darkling Bride.
