Temperature Control

Wool is a natural insulator, so it will be able to keep you nice and warm during the colder months, and soaks up moisture so you stay dry and cool during summer. It also helps to moderate your body temperature so you don’t freeze or overheat, and keeps you at the optimum temperature for your comfort levels. This is particularly useful when it comes to blankets and quilts, as you spend a lot of time in bed, especially in winter! Absorbs Moisture

Temperatures can fluctuate in the winter months, especially if the sun is bright and shining during the afternoons. Woollen products are great at absorbing moisture, and have been shown to be able to hold up to a third of their weight in moisture before you start to feel the effects on your skin. Wool also dries relatively quickly, compared to other fibres. This combination means that wool will not only keep you warm when it is cold, but you will also be less likely to feel sweaty and uncomfortable if it does happen to get a little warmer through the day.

Resistance

Wool is naturally resistant to mildew, mold, and wrinkling, and is fire and waterproof. It also resists dirt, dust and lint, so you don’t have to worry about constantly putting such products in the wash. This is great when it comes to the winter months, as it means you can continue to stay warm for the whole season without worrying about it growing mold etc.

Durable

Wool fibers have been shown to be more durable than cotton, silk and rayon, and are excellent for resisting tearing and bending. Woolen products will last for years, so they are a great investment. You will be able to pull them out every winter for a while yet!

Wool is a fantastic all year round material, but it is especially beneficial when it comes to the colder winter months. Wool now comes in a wide selection of products, ranging from cardigans and socks to blankets and rugs. If you are considering something woolen this winter, make sure you do all your research before you rush out and make a purchase.
