“The Adventures Of Bubba Jones” Can Help Encourage Kids To Connect With The Outdoors (Even With Their Phones)

Summer is almost here and getting outside can be fun. Going outside can help encourage healthy activities, including hiking and exploring. And, yes, some kids may argue against going outside because they’d rather hang out inside and play on their electronic devices. Well, outdoor enthusiast, Jeff Alt, says, “Bring the devices with you! When Lewis and Clark embarked on their Corps of Discovery expedition in 1804 they were equipped with the best technology of the time. Why not let your kids do the same?” Some suggestions Mr. Alt provides include suggesting kids utilize their electronics to research a hike and what it involves. For example, look up the history of the trail or how long it is. Another way to get kids excited about hiking is by reading “The Adventures of Bubba Jones: Time Traveling Through Acadia National Park,” by Jeff Alt.
