Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas for Teen Girls

Hey everyone. So… Thanksgiving is approaching. For some of us, that means gathering with a lot of family and eating a really great dinner. But everyone celebrates differently. In my family, we watch the parade in the morning and then have our cousins over for dinner and dessert. It’s a very fun day, filled with exciting conversations and lots of laughs!

Sometimes, however, the holidays can be stressful. My mom and grandma are always worried about the house being clean and the food tasting delicious. Personally, I never know what to wear during family events (I’m probably getting to that age now where I should be helping with the food but… I’ll stick to fashion for now). I consider my style more… casual… but dark. Lots of black. Not much festivity going on in my wardrobe–hence my struggle. A typical outfit for me is either a flannel or some type of black shirt, jeans or leggings, and Converse or combat boots. So what’s a girl supposed to do when the holidays are supposed to be full of pretty colors?

I’ve learned that accessorizing is always the way to go! Whether it’s with a really pretty scarf or earrings, adding something else can really add to an outfit. For example, if you’ve got jeans and a black t-shirt, try adding a pretty purple or maroon scarf with it. If you’ve got a flannel and leggings, try adding normal sized hoop earrings. If you want to wear a dress, pair it with a nice jacket. Accessorizing can really complete an outfit!

Another idea is instead of wearing sneakers like Converse, find a nice pair of boots. I have a pair of black wedge boots that I’m obsessed with. They’re also extremely comfortable, and have been with me through laser-tagging and other activities you wouldn’t typically expect to wear such shoes in. Anyway, in my opinion, boots can instantly make an outfit look more presentable. They have a sophisticated, classy look and even give you a little height!

Finally, my last idea for helping with an outfit is a pretty sweater. Sweaters go with anything… leggings, jeans, boots, scarves. They’re also really cozy and will protect you from this vicious November cold (we’re freezing over here in Jersey). Sweaters aren’t too casual if worn correctly; by pairing it with leggings, boots, and a solid-colored scarf the outfit will instantly look stylish and you’ll be ready in no time for Thanksgiving dinner!
