A few days later, a family member had asked me, “What were the muffins called that we ate at auntie’s house 3 years ago (they were an ethnic, muffin-type food)?” I couldn’t remember, so we did a Google search and found something similar. She then proceeded to make the muffins and everyone gobbled them up that same evening. They were delicious and brought back such nice memories of past family times. That’s when it hit me. It’s these types of things the “Nourishment” journal could be used for—to document and contain those fond family memories surrounding food.
The “Nourishment” journal provides pages with lines for each day. There are also thoughtful quotes throughout the book to help you ponder. The latter part of the book includes a “Meals to Remember” page. There are also a few pages for a “Recipe Box,” to document significant recipes.
This would make an affordable, thoughtful gift for mom, grandma, or any special woman in your life, especially if she loves to cook or is a foodie. It will provide her with an opportunity to journal her memories and experiences of food and the situations surrounding such food. Another suggestion for the use of the journal was for a new mother to document what she fed her baby the first 5 years of his or her life. There is no right or wrong way to utilize a book like this. That’s part of the beauty of it.
