Motherhood Can Be Hard But Also Hilarious

Whether you’re a first time mom that needs a no B.S. bible on pregnancy and motherhood, or you’re a veteran mama that’s just looking to survive another pregnancy, Ivette’s book is for you. Let’s face it, motherhood can be hard, but it can also be hilarious and super rewarding. After all, if it weren’t, we wouldn’t put ourselves through it.

Motherhood Can Be Hard But Also Hilarious

When I was pregnant for my son Liam, I had this illusion of what being a mother would be like. Dude, I was so far off base! Okay, so the unconditional love part was on point, but the rest of it, way, way off! Like, no one told me that after giving birth, the doctor would knit a blanket of stitches on me, because my son came before they could give me an episiotomy. No one ever let me know that my baby would vomit in my hair, pee all over me, and rarely sleep.

This excerpt cracked me up. Being an autism family, I can so relate. This excerpt cracked me up. Being an autism family, I can so relate.

That’s where Ivette Garcia Davila’s new book, I’m the One Pushing, comes in. It’s a practical, real life (no bull) down to Earth guide on pregnancy and motherhood. She touches on all of the subjects that not everyone else will tell you about. From sex while pregnant, doulas, birth plans, breastfeeding, vaccinations, and more.

I think one of my favorite parts of her book is her “real” language. Reading it is like sitting with one of my BFF’s and talking about labor, delivery and motherhood. She cusses. She uses slang. But she also shows educated research that will help you choose your OWN motherhood adventure.

Last but not least, expect the unexpected

As a side note, let me add, that things don’t always go as planned. And that’s okay. Have back up plans in place, because if you’re living, you know that life likes to throw us curve balls. My birth story started like any other. Other than the fact that I was high risk after suffering eight miscarriages. I was in my last trimester, my son’s due date was the birthday of my step son. I didn’t want my eldest boy to have to share his special day. Apparently my body knew that because it began to swell, uncontrollably. Turns out I had pre-eclampsia. I ended up having to be induced two weeks early. So long story short, be prepared for anything.
