Do you need some good laughs? Or, do you want a fun movie for a girls’ night in or a cheap, but fun, date night? Have I got the movie for you! What is it? “Life Of The Party,” starring Melissa McCarthy.
Let me start off by saying Melissa McCarthy is absolutely hilarious in this movie. Her BFF, who is played by Maya Rudolph, is also super funny. I’ve seen Melissa McCarthy in other movies. And, I have to say, this one is my favorite movie of hers. And, what’s even cooler is that McCarthy co-wrote the screenplay for this movie with Ben Falcone. This movie truly is a great representation of McCarthy’s engaging sense of humor.
What is it about? Melissa McCarthy plays the role of Deanna, an adoring wife and a gushy mother of a college student. But, her picture-perfect life (and the accompanying trip of a lifetime) come to a screeching halt when Deanna finds out her husband has been having an affair. However, Deanna, who has probably the most optimistic spirit you’ve ever seen, doesn’t let such shocking news bring down her world. Instead, she ends up kicking her husband out of the house and decides to kickstart her life by going back to college and finishing the degree she had started many years ago. But, she’s not just going back to college. She’s going back to college with her daughter! And, while she’s at it, she also becomes the “life of the party” in more ways than one.
The movie is rated PG-13 (there is sexual material, drug content, and partying). As mentioned above, it would be a great movie for a fun girls’ night in at home or a date night!
The extra content that comes in the Blu-ray set I received includes deleted scenes, a gag reel, “’80s Party,” and other great stuff that provide even more cause for laughter!

“Life of the Party” is currently available in digital version. Its Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack (SRP of $35.99) and the DVD version (SRP $28.98) will be released on August 7th. The movie will be available on Amazon and Movies Anywhere and at other retail stores. I highly recommend you get your copy. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to watch this movie because I haven’t laughed this much in a long time!
