Local Hive

Local Hive:Rice’s Honey

L.R. Rice started by selling local honey door to door. Four generations later, the business is still going strong. Since 1924, they have partnered with local beekeepers from around the U.S. to bring local honey to your door. All honey is tested to ensure that no honey contains herbicides or pesticides. Being said, all honey is raw and unfiltered, only containing natural ingredients in every bottle. Each honey is bottled in Colorado.

The benefits of raw and unfiltered honey are endless. The honey is rich in antioxidants, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, pollen, and enzymes. Each honey brings its own uniqueness to the table.

The Honey

New England Honey contains hints of brasswood, berries, clover and goldenrod. Honey from this area are darker in comparison with others.

Colorado honey has hints of clover, alfalfa, and wildflowers and is the sweetest of all the honeys.

Southern California Honey has Alfalfa, citrus, sage, berries, and clover.

Utah has alfalfa, wildflowers and clover

Each of these unique honeys have been enjoyed by my family whether over biscuits, in tea and desserts. We look forward to sharing them this holiday season.
