“Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate”

This rhyming adventure follows perfect Captain LaPlank and his pirate crew as they set sail out to sea. Captain LaPlank captains his ship perfectly, carefully watching his crew. One by one he finds mistakes and one by one his crew is shown the plank! After all his crew were gone, there was no one but Captain LaPlank to do the job. “He did all the cooking, cleaning, and steering in a fearsome display of extreme buccaneering. His new problem was jobs. He had rather too many. But then where was the fun? He was not having any.” After carrying this on for a bit he decided: “It has nothing to do with ship captians and crews- perfections not something that pirates can choose. They’d bungled their business but those are the breaks-mistakes are just something that everyone makes!”

Things that everyone can take away from the book are that everyone can learn to live with mistakes, nobody is perfect, humility, embracing imperfections, striving to be our very best.
