Halloween in Paris - 5 Ways to Celebrate the Festivities in the French Capital

Paris is a popular tourist and business destination all year round and as such, some of you may find yourself in the French capital this Halloween season. But if you are a Halloween fan keen to celebrate the holiday while in Paris you could be in for some disappointment. The main reason behind this is that Halloween is more of a recent American import to France, and is not celebrated with as much enthusiasm in the country. However, as with all things, younger people have begun to embrace this tradition and celebratory events have become more common more recently.

Still, families with young children may struggle to get any meaningful trick-or-treating done but there are options to keep the kids happy. Likewise, there are enough options available to keep adults reveling in the Halloween spirit too.

How to Capture the Spirit of Halloween in Paris

A good place to start in building more of a Halloween spirit than is commonly normal in France is to start with a good choice of costumes. As one of the world’s centers of haute couture, Paris is also blessed with a healthy number of costume shops which are a good source of Halloween outfits. In Paris, stores such as Au clown de la Republique and A La Poupee Merveilleuse offer an eclectic and wide range to choose from.

Once the costumes are decided you can also further enhance your Parisian Halloween experience by creating or planning something special for the holiday. If you’re going to be in Paris this October and are determined not to miss Halloween this year, here are 5 ways to celebrate in the French Capital:

  1. Find a Halloween Party to Attend

As mentioned above, not many people celebrate Halloween in France, but the festival is taking hold and becoming more popular, particularly in Paris. There are dozens of airlines servicing the city and any flight New York Paris has available is a viable option for traveling there. As such many clubs and bars now hold Halloween parties and there is a long list of venues and events where you can dress up and have some fun.

  1. Take the Ghost and Vampire Tour

While the main attractions in Paris involve high fashion and cuisine, the city also has its fair share of quirky, eccentric and even macabre attractions. One way to celebrate Halloween in Paris is by going on a guided ghost tour of the city called Mysteries of Paris: Ghost and Vampire Tour.

  1. Halloween at Disneyland Paris

While you may not get much joy trick or treating for candy around Paris, one place sure to satisfy the Halloween needs of families is Disneyland Paris. The world-famous resort gets a Halloween makeover every year from October to early November in celebration of the spooky holiday. Highlights include meeting some of Disney’s most notorious villains and characters.

  1. Les Catacombes de Paris

Deep within the bowels of Paris is a long series of winding tunnels known as the Paris Catacombs. The ossuary holds the remains from several excavated cemeteries that used to exist around the city as well as the bones from casualties of war. The catacombs are a popular tourist attraction but really come into their own during Halloween due to their eerie contents. Again tourists can take advantage of the flight San Francisco Paris route to get to the French capital.

  1. Visit the Vampire Museum

What better way to celebrate Halloween than to immerse yourself in a museum dedicated to vampires? That’s what Le Musee des Vampires offers. It is a private museum established to highlight the mythology and impact of vampires on folklore through the ages and a great way to experience Halloween.

Whether you’re in Paris this October on business or with family, there are still ways to make sure you enjoy the Halloween festivities while in the French Capital. The list of five ways to celebrate Halloween in Paris above is a good place to get inspiration on making your 2017 Halloween a memorable one.
