Get Your Makeup To Last All Day With These Amazing Products

As many girls will know, there is nothing worse than spending ages perfecting your makeup in the morning, only for it to have all come off by midday. It can leave you feeling pretty self-conscious, and many women resort to taking their makeup bag out with them for regular touch ups. With all the other things you need to get done during a regular day, makeup should be the last thing you think about! It is for this reason that many cosmetic brands are now releasing products to help your makeup last all day. If you find that you need greater longevity with your makeup, read on to find out how you could make it a reality.

Wipe the slate clean

There is no point putting makeup on top of an already dirty and oily face. Oil reacts badly with makeup, causing it to easily slide off your face as though it was never there in the first place. Always wash your face with a cleanser before applying makeup – and ensure any makeup from the night before is taken off too! Retouching old makeup may sound practical, but in reality it can look messy and dirty. Once your face is clean, use a primer underneath your makeup. Primers come in either cream or gel form and are great for minimising the appearance of pores, and generally making your skin look a lot better. They are the key agent in making your makeup last longer, so this is one product you can’t do without.

Make sure it sets

Use the right products to make sure that your makeup will stay put. Oil-free formulas are your best bet, and it is also a good idea to use waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Wind and rain can cause eye makeup to smudge, giving you the dreaded ‘panda eye’, so waterproof versions are vital. Remember that less is more with products like foundation, so cover your whole face with a thin layer first. If you need to add more, you can do so after, but it is best to build it up. Once your face is complete, you will then need to ‘lock it in’. Setting sprays or powders will become your best friend when it comes to making your makeup last. Go for a translucent powder such as one by Ben Nye Makeup, as this won’t detract from the colour of the makeup you’ve already put on. It will also soak up excess oil and generally make your skin appear smoother and with less imperfections.

Don’t ruin it during the day

One of the most common reasons for makeup coming off during the day is the wearer continually touching their face. Be aware of how many times you touch your face during the day, or ask a friend to tell you every time you do it. You could also be transferring bad bacteria to your face if you are out and about, which could be responsible for future skin problems. Carry a few blotting papers and a pressed powder in your handbag for any on-the-go touch ups.
