Fun Fall Fashions For Kids

Fall is a great time of year – in fact, according to research, it’s America’s favorite season, primarily due to the changing of the leaves, although many love the crisp, cooler air after enduring a long, hot summer.

Autumn also means apple picking, pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating, and new fashions.

It’s a great season with fall colors like crimson reds, golds, olive greens, and burnt orange hues.

When it comes to kids’ clothing, there are plenty of fun choices whether you’re looking for new back-to-school outfits, attire for staying warm during your outdoor adventures, or anything else.

Vests

A pseudo-shirt/jacket, the vest is a quintessential transition piece for all ages that’s become a popular trend in recent years and a layering mainstay.

They’re back bigger than ever as the perfect addition to any outfit, ideal for everything from fall strolls in the park to school attire.

Plus, once it gets too chilly to wear on its own it can be layered over button-downs, t-shirts, dresses with a cute pair of leggings, and more.

You can find them at just about any children’s clothing store or retailers like Target which offers zip-up puffer vests in shades that are perfect for autumn.

Vests of all types and styles, from faux fur and fringe to denim are even available at online shops selling gently used clothing too, which not only saves you money but fights fashion waste to lessen the negative impact on the environment.

Sweaters

Fall is and always will be the season for sweaters and kids are no exception.

There are open-front cardigans with belts that look adorable with boots, but one of our favorites is the autumn cashmere peace sign sweater in orange. It’s perfect for any of your favorite fall activities.

Of course, you can always go with a classic “ugly” sweater but be sure to have a conversation with your pre-teen or teen first as the style may not be the one they’re looking for.

Mom and daughter matching sweaters don’t usually make for a great idea unless you’ve got a toddler.

Jackets

With temperatures continuing to drop, a jacket is a must. For fall they need to be warm but not so warm that your child is sweating on the bus.

They can’t wrinkle easily or be too bulky either as it’s likely they’ll end up shoving it into a backpack on a sunny afternoon, like fleece.

A fleece jacket can even be worn under a rain jacket if necessary as it’s thin and warm but not too hot. You want something that’s lightweight, stylish, durable, and fun.

For a unique option, consider checking Etsy.

For example, we found this great high-quality, handmade dark green fleece jacket with a hood that has moose appliques on the front and the back.

Vintage Rock Tees

Not everything has to scream fall and t-shirts can be worn year-round with layers added when it starts getting cold.

While your kids were born decades after these classic rock bands filled stadiums, wearing them has become a big trend and some have even begun to appreciate the music.

Think everything from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd, Journey, and the Rolling Stones.

You’ll find plenty out there online and at department stores like Target.
