We like to come up with vacation ideas here but they tend to be boutique hotels or city breaks.
There are plenty of excellent destinations archived on the site but there is one area that we have unfortunately looked over in the past.
Sports may not be your thing but if there is someone in your life who follows their favorite teams religiously, a sports-themed vacation could be a win for everyone involved.

Louisville, Kentucky
We thought we would start off with a less obvious choice.
Mention Louisville to any sports fan and they will immediately think of one thing – the Kentucky Derby.
Arguably the biggest event in the world of horse racing, the Derby takes place at the Churchill Downs racetrack each May and is a glamorous affair.
Make sure you dress up for the big day. But also be aware that there are races throughout the week – and there is much more to do in Louisville besides the Derby.
There are plenty of college sports as well, if you want to keep the sports vibe going. But why not just sip a mint julep and take your time to explore the rest of this charming city?
New York, New York
So good they named it twice. You don’t really need a sports excuse to make the trip to New York – but there are plenty of choices if you want to spend a weekend in the Big Apple.
Two NFL teams, two NBA teams, two baseball teams, two soccer teams. You could watch sports non-stop in the city that never sleeps.
Or you could plan the trip to coincide with one of the big sports events at the world-famous Madison Square Garden.
There’s the US Open for tennis fans and the New York City marathon for an inspiring sports trip. You will never run out of things to do in New York – and that’s just with all the sports on offer.
London, England
Let’s go a little further afield for our next destination. A trip to London, England has to be on the bucket list of just about every American.
But you don’t have to fill your schedule with walks around castles and stately homes. You could just soak up all the big sports events and games in the capital of England.
Wembley Stadium plays host to international soccer games – as well as a few NFL games each season.
But you could check out English Premier League soccer at one of a number of London teams.
Then there is the cricket at Lord’s, or the Oval, if you really want to get under the skin of what makes the English tick.
Chicago, Illinois
Back to the States for our next location. Five major league sports teams dominate the Windy City – and you can spread yourself around to gauge which is the best.
The Bears are the NFL football team, while the Bulls play hoops and try to emulate the glory days of the one and only Michael Jordan.
Summer brings baseball to Chicago and visitors can choose between the north side’s Cubs and the south side’s White Sox.
The iconic Wrigley Field – home of the Cubs – could win that battle. Hockey fans can catch the Blackhawks play during the NHL season.
But no matter who you end up seeing, just make sure you top off your trip with a deep dish pizza.
Monte Carlo, Monaco
After pizza in Chicago we thought we would end this mini guide with a touch of class. If you are a fan of Formula 1 racing, then a trip to Monte Carlo is a must.
The whole place is taken over by motorsport and glamor when F1 comes to town, with the streets of the city becoming the racetrack.
This place may be a haven for the rich and famous but there are plenty of luxury establishments for everyone to try out.
You could even have a go in the world-famous casinos. If you’re lucky you may even be able to afford a round the world trip visiting some of the other destinations on our list!
