Event-Filled Christmas Season On-Tap Along South Carolina’s Hammock Coast

Nights of a Thousand Candles Highlights Georgetown County’s December Calendar

Christmas along Georgetown County’s Hammock Coast will again offer visitors plenty of entertainment options in the run up to the holidays.

The highlight of the season is Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens, one of the premier holiday events in the South. Nights of a Thousand Candles brings Brookgreen to life under the soft glow of more than 5,500 candles and sparkling lights from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. on select days.

Nights of a Thousand Candles will take place November 30December 1-2December 7-9 and December 14-17, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children. Kids three and under enjoy free admission.

With holiday music playing and live performances nightly, guests can enjoy a serene evening at one of America’s best public gardens while drinking warm cider and spending time with family and friends.

Nights of a Thousand Candles is the most prominent event on the Hammock Coast’s holiday calendar but it’s hardly alone.  The first weekend of December is otherwise known as An Inlet Christmas Weekend, highlighted by a tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 2, a tour of homes the following day, and the Murrells Inlet Christmas Parade on December 4.

The Kaminski House’s A Very Fashionable Christmas is always a great way to enjoy an antebellum home that traces its roots back to the mid-1800s. The historic home is annually decorated by some of the area’s finest interior designers and offers three tours per day plus a special candlelight tour during the holiday season.

Comprised of five communities – Garden City, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, Pawleys Island and the City of Georgetown – the Hammock Coast has become a destination of choice for discerning travelers who want to enjoy South’s Carolina’s abundant natural beauty.
