Easy, Beautiful Crafts for Kids and Adults

Are you one of those people that sit and look at Pinterest for hours at a time?  I know I am, and even though that is fun, a lot of the crafts require materials you have to go and buy.  Since I wanted to create something from the stuff I have around my house, I looked for a book to help me with that.  The Craft Kingdom: DIY and Craft Projects For Kids and Adults by Eli Maor are perfect for that!  I also wanted crafts that were easy (I’m a DIY beginner for sure!), even easy enough for kids too.

This book has so many ideas for things that I would never have thought about.  My granddaughter is going to have a blast making some of these with me!  She is so bored being out of school, so I figured this may just keep her busy…and keep her out of Mom’s hair.

One of the crafts I can’t wait to try with her is a vase you simply glue small, round rocks too.  How easy is that?  Even though it is simple, it still looks pretty, and nobody has to know how easy it was to make.  This is one of the things I love about this book.  Everyone has these materials around their houses.

Another benefit to making these crafts is recycling old “junk” sitting around collecting dust.  We are talking about scraps of fabric, toilet paper rolls, and believe it or not, even sticks and twigs!  Instead of piling up your garbage, you can actually use these things to make new, beautiful items for your home.  You could even give them as gifts. If you love crafting and creating stuff, then a Cricut machine is worth considering.

If you are a teacher, Girl Scout leader, or maybe having a party with lots of kids, you could use one of these for a great craft to do with them.  I haven’t ever come across a child that doesn’t like creating a craft.  It keeps them busy while they are learning, and it simply makes them feel important.  Like they’ve accomplished something.  As a kid, you don’t get a lot of “say” in daily life.  Obviously, for good reason.  We can’t let kids decide important things or they would be running around with scissors all day!  However, we can sit them down with certain materials and let them create something that they will be proud of.  Spending time with our kids while doing a craft is so special.  They remember it forever!
